Hey all - wanted to warn you of a side effect of Kratom MIT extract. Since the banning of 7OH this stuff is flying off the shelves. Shop keepers can't keep enough in stock. We get the Hyroxi four-tablet pack. ~$30/each. This will be banned soon because it does give you those warm n fuzzies that Percocet does. Good stuff. And its a fantastic pain killer. They will be banning it for sure.

SKIN FISSURES not to be believed, on the hands and especially fingertips. Both my roommate and me. They hurt more than anything you've ever felt before. For this reason alone, we are both stopping it. Can't do anything because you can't stand the shocking pain. I have photographs and they're gruesome. But I seem to have to put them online to see them. If you write me, I can email you the jpeg. It's horrific.

You've been warned.

Hi, i don't know too much about those over-the-counter pills because they don't put accurate dose and ingredient information on them, and for that reason alone i don't like to see them.

I'd be curious to see the fissures... you could go to imgbb.com then upload and post the BBCode here, if you'd like.

I honestly think it would be educational. Could use some sort of trigger warning type thing if you want.

I can help you with this if that's something you'd be interested in doing.

Are you sure they don't have kava in them like the FeelFree products? Overuse of kava, especially Micronized or weird extracts cause exactly what you're describing.

Sorry for the blur. Photog. was a little shaky that day.

There's no mention of Kava on the label, but thanks.

FYI y'all - shop keepers are all having to put labels on this product that say it complies with state laws, etc. IOW, somebody noticed it and they'll be coming for it soon.

Holy cow. That looks insanely painful. That I cannot comment on, as that is beyond even the worst kanikani (kava dermopathy) I've seen, though definitely similar shininess/dryness of the skin and cracking. Please keep us updated. Sorry this has happened to you, that is brutal.

Why are you spending that much money on something that can be made safely at home from whole leaf kratom very easily? I don’t trust store bought extracts and pills since you don’t know what solvents/byproducts are left behind, and quality control is only up to the manufacturer since kratom is unregulated by the FDA or any other government body for that matter. $30 for a few doses?!? You can buy a kilo of high quality and independently lab tested kratom for ~$50 (been sourcing it for years). That MIT extract is weak sauce anyway, and I don’t even trust it since what is stopping them from spiking it with other additives in order to boost the effects? Learn up and do your due diligence.

Whole noble kava kava root is fine to consume without any ill effects, and I’ve been brewing my own kava for years (many kilos per month). The problem is that certain shady manufacturers don’t only use the noble inner root fibers, but they either accidentally or intentionally end up grinding up some of the leaf material from the kava plant which is considered a contaminant since it contains toxic compounds within it, and this has been a known fact about kava for over twenty years. This is why I don’t buy any extracts of kava or kratom either, and there is no need to if you have a good supply. Making kratom extract at home using PG isn’t hard, and even producing 7-OH and MGM-15 isn’t very difficult to do with a kitchen setup. I’d get off that junk that you are buying and switch to quality whole leaf powder from a reputable supplier such as Golden Monk or Happy Hippo.

I only use noble kava traditional medium grind it will still cause dry wrinkly hands and feet for me if using in normal amounts regularly. Within a week or two. A lot of it has to do with using an Aluball and not filtering a second time. This is from the most reputable and notable companies as recommended by all the kava heads across the internet. All kava can cause kani if used too much and too often and if your particular body chemistry is more susceptible. But I agree with the extracts. Wouldn't touch that or non-true instant with a 10 foot pole.

I normally order from Kalm With Kava, and I’d recommend taking a solid multivitamin, consuming high quality refined fish oil, taking five grams of creatine monohydrate per day to improve brain/muscle function, staying hydrated, and getting at least eight hours of sleep everyday. I feel as though a lot of drug side effects are mostly due to improper nutrition and poor sleep whether caused by the drugs or not. Also, exercise wouldn’t hurt.

P.S. I’m also a personal trainer with fifteen years of experience. Godspeed

I am very healthy lol. I also use KWK sometimes. I take a good multi, I take fish oil, I take 4.5g creatine every day, I compulsively hydrate with water and electrolytes, I sleep as well as I can given work, and I NEVER stop exercising. I'm telling you, it's just something kava does if you're a daily to near daily user. It's not abnormal and it's very well known. Not sure why so many kava users always want to try and cover this up. Reminds me of when kratom was still relatively new and everyone swore it had no withdrawals and was just "like super coffee"

I’m not arguing about it. It’s just that I never heard of this before. I guess it might be specific to certain populations? I have no idea. That’s great though that you are taking care of yourself. IDK, maybe pause and try to take a break for a while to reset, but I’m not a doctor and even they understand very little about kratom and kava since the FDA doesn’t really let them study about it. Smh

I mean, all you have to do is google "kava dry skin" or "kava wrinkly hands" etc and you'll find countless reddit threads. The general concensus is use daily at even reasonable levels and chances are you're going to develop at least mild dermopathy. I have to moisturize every day when using 4 - 8 tbsp a day or suffer the consequences.

I never experienced it neither did my gf of over six years, and I don’t moisturize for shit. I think I vaguely remember hearing about this in the past but I never experienced it myself. I do recall years ago like back in 2005 some folks were getting liver problems from kava too; however, from what I understand it was due to bad batches being made cheaply that were including the leafy parts of the kava plant in the final product. I mean, thanks for sharing since this is good to know. I wish you the best.

Thank you. The fissures go deep - that's why they're red and SO very painful. We have to just stop. It's too much pain to do anything. Besides that, having physical problems because of the drugs you're doing .... that's junkie territory and that's not me/us. Good luck y'all.

How are you doing, man?

Doing MUCH better, thanks. Fissures are gone for me, but my friend is still dealing with them. But he's got stage 4 cancer and I'm sure his other meds are interfering with his fissures healing. They're still very painful for him. Mine are totally gone though, and I still do a small amount of MIT.

Good to hear. Sucks about your friend, though. I can't imagine that hell.

Yeah I've never experience this nor have I heard about it and I've made and sold a lot of MIT/7-OH in my day. I imagine it's that specific product...

Not heard of this with Kava either but I've way less experience with it.

"kanikani" on the islands, or kava dermopathy. Happens when you use daily and moderately to heavily. People like to pretend like good ol' traditional medium grind won't do it, but it all does it. It's just instant kavas, and particularly micronized kava, does it way faster and much more severely. Punch it into Google and hit Images and you'll see lol. All those people that were abusing those FeelFree products that contained kratom/kava extracts looked like HELL!

Don't abuse kava, kids. It's not worth it. I don't care how much water you drink and lotion you use on your skin. Keep it reasonable and it is a fantastic root. Go too far, and you wade directly into Shit Creek.

Also this image is a bit brazen to the point of being untrue, but it gives you an idea. With traditional root preparation, liver problems are not a thing in normal dosing among healthy, normal individuals as far as I know. That has been very overblown, but there are other kinds of kava that use non-optimal parts of the plant that are toxic. There was a while there, where the internet would have made you thought kava was for the suicidal. Sudden death? Really? Not sure about overdosing, but I doubt there's even data. Never heard anything about these "9 cases from New Caledonia" but that seems suspect so I am going to look it up now lol.
