Reading all the recent first time reports for shrooms made me want to write my own, which happened not all that long ago
When : February 2003
Where : On a holiday in byron bay (northern nsw, australia)
Dose : Approx 2 or 3 dried grams of cubensis. (estimate)
This is a rather scattered report, as i'm not sure of the timeframe of everything... as you can imagine, i had a mindblowing time!
At about 2:45pm, i chewed on some of the dried shrooms for a short while before swallowing and chasing with water. I had planned to start off with a small amount and if it wasn't enough, increase the dose slowly... however i ended up chewing through it all over about 45 minutes (you know how it is! lol).
By the time i had finished ingesting all of them (45 minutes after i started), i began to feel the initial effects. i was watching passions, and was having difficulty keeping up with the plot! the faces of the characters looked completely different to how i normally saw them, they seemed to be a little blurred and the colours seemed to be streaking and running. i asked my friend whether this was just me, and he replied that he saw nothing unusual. The over-acting that occurs on passions seemed even more hilarious than it usually did, and faces started to look sorta like the effect they use in Buffy on the vampires faces!
I left passions to have a look at myself in the mirror, and was entranced by my reflection in the mirror. My face seemed to be subtly growing and shrinking, i noticed all the imperfections of my skin/tan much more than i had ever before, and i saw myself as some kind of animal. i began to make 'animal' like faces, and laughed at myself! i felt like i was a werewolf or something
I walked back into the livingroom to find that passions was over... looking at the floor, the rug began to move in a snakelike fashion, and i laughed out loud, saying "look! the rug is alive!" (it was one of those cool turkish like rugs). My sober friends gave me "you're drugfuct" looks, but i didn't really feel that off-tap.
I accompanied several of my friends outside into the courtyard for a game of five hundred. they asked me how i was feeling, and what i was seeing... my friends haven't got the interest in psychadelics that i do, and weren't interested in trying shrooms. i explained to them how the wall/fence was growing in height and then shrinking again, how the pattern on the wooden chair was swirling, how the pattern on the tablecloth morphed into detailed pictures that didn't exist, how everything was almost cartoon like, how green the trees were, a green like i'd never seen before, and how everything was so much more vibrant! they looked at me and i knew they had no understanding of the beautiful experience i was having. i think they saw drugs more as something which 'fuct you up' rather than something which gave you an experience which you couldn't achieve anywhere else.
We settled down for our game of five hundred, i was partnered up with a friend who had only just started learning the game during our holiday, and since i was 'fuct up' in everyone elses view, the other team thought it was going to be a walkover for them... we played for what seemed like an eternity, although i'm sure it wasn't all that long, as the game only lasted something like 7 or 8 hands! My opponents kept outbidding me, and i was trying to play every game fairly safe as i was feeling a trifle confused... finally they laid it down, he bid OPEN MIZZARE, and i thought "oh shit, this is it...". We played the first trick, which he promptly lost, and i took control. I looked at my own hand, and then looked at his hand... i saw three clubs in his hand, one of which was the ACE! (i hope some of you understand the rules of 500!) then i noticed the four clubs in my own hand. i kept looking back and forth at these... was this game sealed? had i really won? i was fairly confused and having trouble stringing together a strategy, but i thought that i might just have the cards to win. i played my clubs, one at a time, playing the high ones to begin with, making sure i kept control and my partner didn't mess it up. Finally i forced him to play the ace, and we had won (mind you, his partner was very pissed off). Oh the laughter! i couldn't control myself, somehow the fact that they were beaten by a newbie, and me, offchops, was completely hilarious! i rolled around for what seemed like ages, and my friends simply shook their heads at me...
We headed back inside, but i was in the mood for adventure, and one of my friends agreed we should take a walk to the beach. The sun was starting to set and it was becoming alot darker, but the colours of the trees and nature were just as vibrant as ever! we spotted a chicken, and tried to catch it, but unable, we walked back home and chilled out.
Bored, i decided to head outside, and no one was willing to come with. By this time it was very dark, and walking along the dirt trail, i could not see a thing. I was an animal. My senses were functioning at 300%! I picked up every single sound, the trees creaking and speaking a language i didn't understand, the frogs groaning, the wind whistling, and it was breathtaking. I walked in total darkness at a VERY slow pace back home, and it had the potential to freak me out, however i kept my wits about me, even though i was frightened by the trees appearing beside me, which i thought were people.
I returned to our holiday home, and we decided to invent a game, which i call... 'the egg game'. It was simple, you take a fresh egg, you call out someones name, and they turn around, and you throw it at them. hopefully (or hopefully not!) they catch it, and throw it back to u, or someone else... last person to touch it has to clean it up! THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS, in any state. I was sobbing uncontrolably on the ground after having an egg thrown at me, catching it, having another thrown, catching it with my other hand... and then another! i knew not what to do, so i put out my foot, and it exploded on impact!
I went out into our courtyard and tore a small chunk off an aloe vera plant... i couldn't help thinking that perhaps it had feelings as well, and that i should only use as much as i needed, so as not to damage it too much and let it grow back in the future. I felt that nature was so beautiful a commodity, and that although we often thought ourselves as above other things, animals, etc, we weren't. everyone and everything deserved respect. we too, are animals!
The next day, to my disapproval, my friends ripped huge amounts off the aloe vera plant to heal their sunburn. they used much more than what was necessary, and i still felt some guilt and pain for them unneccessarily damaging the plant (hehe i'm weird!)
Gradually i began to comedown, after what seemed an eternity, but it had only been 4 or so hours... i looked at the rug, and it was no longer moving. i looked at the walls, and they were no longer breathing. i looked around, and things were looking normal again.
I had a wonderful trip, and i'd love to do it again sometime, in the outdoors with some other people in the future
cheers,
jimbu
