Shrooms at a young age

So I'm 15 and I've had a lot of experience with the drug world except psychedelics. I plan to get an 1/8 and eat lil more than half. This will be my first time and I'm not some idiotic kid doing this to get high. There's a lot of changes I want to make about myself and I hope that this trip can pull out the things I refuse to think about now and throw them in my face. Mentally I'm prepared to lose control of everything in my body and my mind. I'm ready for anything bad or good from this experience. I was hoping I could get some advice on these drugs. Been researching for the past month so know basically everything you can expect the actual experience which will be something all in itself. Thanks in advance for the input folks.

I don't know if you really want to go into a trip with the mentality that you want to "lose control" though...that just sounds like a recipe for disaster. If you want to work some things out and have a rewarding trip, you should work to maintain control while using the trip to work through your issues.

When I say lose control I'm thinking about taking the whole 8th and from my brothers stories(my trip sitter) of his trips he says high doses for first timers can get you lost in a different reality but I see where your coming from. I prob just stick with 2gs.

Have you ever used psilocybin mushrooms before? Just saying, I think you should do a moderate to low dosage before you go into a "losing control" state. When I think lose control, I think ++++ on the shulgin scale, and I don't know about you but if that was my first mushroom trip then that would NOT be a good time, I'd be scared shitless. your call though

It's a good idea to not eat more than about a gram or so if it's your first time doing shrooms. Seriously. 1.75 grams of good p. cubebensis is probably too much. Especially if you have a rather... negative expectation of the trip. Mushrooms can be rather rough on some people - they can induce some pretty irrational anxiety.

If it really is your first time, at least have a sitter who's experienced if you want to take a big dose like that.

Man kids these days, when I was 15 I hadn't altered my consciencouness in anyway let alone with psychedelics.

Having said that as long as you have a sitter and no responsibilities for the evening I guess it couldn't hurt. You are far better off learning how to focus on your issues without drugs at this age though. You may consider yourself mature and responsible, which is great you very well may be, but you haven't learned all the coping mechanisms and tricks you get with age.

+1 for dealing with your issues sober. I know this isn't opiates or alcohol but you don't want to be reliant on anything to figure yourself out.

I first tripped on shrooms when I was 15 and I had an awesome time on an 8th. However, I'd recommend 1.75-2grams to begin, a full 8th on your first time might be slightly overwhelming if you're not adequately prepared.

I was heavy into everything at your age, too. All I'd suggest would probably be... I guess just don't bring any undue attention to yourself or the situation. Be somewhere chill, ya know? I endedup in a psych ward because of Datura stramonium at your age, and that kinda effed up my familial relationshipsfor a while. Nowadays, at age 20, I'm a loud and outspoken advocate of entheogens and all forms of alternative thought and perception; but if I'd have been so public about it all back then, I'd have drawn unnecessary attention to the cause, which (especially around myparts) would have resulted in some real setbacks to whole effort. Even be wary of which of your peers you confide in. You never know who can really handle getting grilled by authority. Just sayin' ha.

It sounds like you have a good understanding of what's to come and the potential for a refreshing perspective shift, credited to your month of reading. However I would suggest to not rush into any trips just because you are so young and should be learning how to manage life issues on your own. Maybe practise some meditation or other 'natural' consciousness changing techniques beforehand to obtain new perspectives.

To be honest if you have no psychedelic experience you shouldn't take a dose that can make you lose control, by all means be prepared for it, as anything can happen on pretty much any dose, however "losing control" or "going over the edge" is absolutely not necessary for personal introspection, it can actually have a lasting negative afterglow for a long time after as bad trips can be very hard to come to terms with, especially at 15.

However with that being said you do have a mature approach to psychedelics, I say give 'er shit, but make sure you have a trip sitter. Your first psychedelic trip can be very intimidating and overwhelming.
Basically expect lucidity, happiness and laughter, especially on the comeup, you'll probably get the chills, and if they're potent, an 1/8th should give you fairly strong open eyed visuals, morphing, melting, colours and fractals distorting your vision.
Since you have no psychedelic experience, reading all the trip reports in the world won't really help much.
It's like explaining what an orgasm feels like to someone who's never had one.

15 is a very young age to be taking drugs, especially powerful ones like mushrooms. Take the advice above and start with a low dose.

Personally, I'd recommend you wait at least a couple of years before trying them, and even then to be moderate. There has been plenty of scientific research on drug use in adolescent brains, and taking any drugs during this time in your life may have lasting effects on your brain's development. It's true, it probably won't kill you, but regular drug use may have consequences that you don't like. Anyway, just be careful.

There's a lot of changes I want to make about myself and I hope that this trip can pull out the things I refuse to think about now and throw them in my face.

Be wary of using psychedelics with this attitude. Focusing on unpleasant thoughts may turn your trip sour, and you almost certainly will not come out of the trip feeling like your personality problems have been solved.

U go to that board where gay ass niggas' talk endlessly about losing ur ego through use of psychedelics. Shroomphorium.com or something
I'm kinda worried about you.
What's that all about losing your ego? I haven't used that phrase "losing ego" more than a couple of times.
Can u explain what losing your ego means to me in layman's terms?

Ego-loss refers to the dissociation and detachment of the "I" conscious Self from the cognitive narrative, generally resulting in a state of sidhori or null and void or intimate "oneness".
It's a term used to denote a specific state of awareness is which linear and logical cognition is either impaired beyond recognition or entirely absent.
It's about Zen basically.

well im going to put a general disclaimer first: when you are fifteen, your brain is still growing, your neurons are still making connections in the brain. there is a lot to learn on your own during these formative years. i dont think moderate pot and alcohol use is particularly bad at your age, but you definitely want to be prepared for a psychedelic experience if thats what you want to do.

that being said i took LSD around your age for the first time, and jumped head-first into the world of psychedelia. mushrooms are usually what i would recommend for a first-timer, unless you have access to legitimate rarer chemicals like 2C-B. mushrooms give you a nice little body high, and while the peak can be a little confusing, in an hour you are usually already at a more comfortable place.

i would recommend to take anywhere from 1-3.5 grams. i dont think its particularly necessary to eat more than an eighth for your first time--an eighth of good mushrooms will be absolutely wild for the first time. it might be more intense than what most people here are recommending but i feel like you are better off jumping into the pool and getting what its all about instead of slowly wading in, just my opinion though.

do as much research on the internet, on sites like this and erowid as you can possibly handle. here are some general tips for your first time experience:

-set: make sure you are mentally up for it, not too nervous or emotionally unstable when you plan on doing it
-setting: plan your tripspace, make sure there arent any imposing authority figures, make sure you are in a comfortable place with comfortable people
-dont make the mistake of getting impatient and redosing before you peak--this happens all too much with people unfamiliar with psychedelics
-try to eat decently before you trip, eat something your stomach can easily handle as mushrooms are known to cause some stomach discomfort
-it might help to have a back up place to trip at in case something happens with your plan A trip spot
-have a sober person with you!(VERY IMPORTANT!)
-remember--you are on a drug
-go with the flow
-bring cool music, art supplies, and fun things to look at!

yeah haha, I'm pretty outspoken about it too which is super dumb, because now my parents are REALLY worried about me. And they keep me on close watch. god dammit.

It is super dumb. Calm it down man.

Just to preface, I'm 19, and started experimenting at 15 with alcohol then weed, then psys at 16 along with dissociatives.

The previous replies have basically summed up what I have to say, I just want to add a little more personal experience to the equation of deciding on doing this or not.

My situation is that I'm extremely intelligent, IQ of 130, have always been GT (gifted and talented) in school, got a 2200 on my SAT, 31 on my ACT, etc. Being this way I've always questioned what's around me, etc. Naturally I wanted to open the doors of perception and try psychedelics for a very long time. However, I GREATLY regret following the path I've gone down. In an attempt to learn more about the "truth" and what have you, you probably have the same thoughts, I've kind of lost my footing in the real world. It's no doubt that my middle-upper class upbringing has played a part in this, seeing as I've never had to work until now, etc.

However, just know that taking psys and expanding your consciousness at your age, IMO, is a very dangerous thing. You WILL get caught up in it, the romance, the psychedelia, etc. You will feel superior to your peers knowing that everything around you is kind of a lie. This is good to figure out a bit later on in life, but IME dangerous for one growing up. Because of my experiementing (23 different chemicals to date), I have a very hard time motivating myself to get a job, care about real world things, etc. I know that in life the key is enlightenment, and spiritual growth is the final destination/journey. But none of that can happen when you can't take care of yourself financially/in the real world because you grew up caring about the esoteric and not making spending money, etc.

I'm rambling, just know coming from a fellow intelligent youth of the same generation, that I heavily regret my mind-expanding drug use at such a young age. As someone here on BL said in a thread, I'm too far out from shore, and keep getting farther every experience I have.

PLEASE rethink this. Your first psy experience will be so much more amazing anyways if you wait until you've really experienced love, experienced the real world including working/college and providing for yourself, made friends outside of high school, etc.

^OTOH, psychedelics might teach you sooner rather than later (after you leave academia, since it enforces elitism) that intelligence isn't any better than empathy, diligence, loyalty, or any other virtuous attribute.

And the OPs already doing other drugs, do we really feel tripping will be a worse influence on him that whatever else he's doing? Maybe if it's just weed and some odds and ends, but considering how early kids get into opiates, benzos, and amps these days...actually that's another bit of advice for cemin. While combinations can be good fun, try to stick to psychedelics by themselves and treat them as something serious and special. Psychedelics combine best with good old fashion activities like artistry, dancing, music appreciation, pondering, hiking, camping...anything natural or craftsy, heck, even movies if you're in a pinch.

I didn't start tripping until I was an adult, and haven't really experienced those things. Should I have waited longer? ;)

Take at least 3 grams, i don't care how old you are, people probably gonna jump all over me for this but i feel that more harm is done by people fart arsing around with piddling doses than when someone just gets slammed to the wall on a proper effective dose, low dose users tend to constantly dabble in half baked rushes and end up taking drugs far more frequently than they should and never really get the point or get to the center of the mandala, after a good 4 or 5 gram shroom slamming session you wont feel like doing it again for a while and you will spend more time thinking about and integrating the experience into your picture of reality, and you won't lose the magic.

If you want happy times and giggles go take some MDMA, if you wanna approach the mushroom then come with courage and respect and don't treat it like a toy drug, cos it ain't.
