shroom identification

I heard shrooms were growing in my area so I went looking for them in the forest near where I live. I found several that look exactly like little cubensis, but I'm no expert and I'm not really lookin' to poison myself. Does anyone know about any psilocybe mushroom poisonous look alikes? Do only psilocybin mushrooms bruise blue, or do others do that also?
 
Actually after doing a little research I'm gonna play it safe and just buy some from my friendly neighborhood dealer. Apparantly there are deadly look alikes that grow right next to allot of psilocybin species. Fuck that.

Sadly, not enough people know this and do it anyway :(

In relation to the question, deadly species from other genera's do bruise blue so that wouldn't be a definitive answer in identifying shrooms :) Could look real, bruise real, taste (?) real but until it starts working it's poison you'll never know
 
there are lookalikes that do not get you high, or harm you immediately.
two weeks after ingestion they start to "work their magic".

if i had a local dealer who sold confirmed psilocybin mushrooms, i wouldnt pick any.
as i always say about any drug-
"if in doubt- chuck it out."
 
It does sound a bit more difficult for Americans, around here you can just look for liberty caps which are easy to identify and don't have any poisonous look-alikes (at least in the same habitat). It's definitely possible to learn to identify cubensis though, and once you've seen a few it should be easy to differentiate them from others. For a start, don't look for them in forests, I think they only grow in fields/cow pastures.

You can just buy them if you want, but I think it's fun and quite satisfying to go out and pick them yourself. If you're interested check out the shroomery.

yes they do. and there are many variables for growth environment for P. Semilanceata (liberty caps) as well as most species that can drastically alter how they look, even making them look like a different species.

also i have personally found actual liberty caps in a forest.
i am facepalming :\
 
Yeah I know liberty caps can look quite different depending on how wet they are mostly, but once you've seen a few they are easy to identify. What poisonous look-alikes are there? I've seen other pickers mistake maybe one or two different species for libs, but they're not posionous, though I can't remember what they are now. I guess it depends on what you think looks alike.

Crazy you found some in a forest!
