Television Shows you just "dont get" or just dislike

I don't get the "reality" brand in general. There are reality stars that end up on celebrity themed reality shows because they are reality stars? I guess reality is truely subjective.

I also find shows like Law & Order and CSI incredibly boring. As well as shows like Damages and Nip/Tuck.

Let me add AbFab to the list--and I'm someone who enjoys British comedy.

As for reality shows, there isn't a single one on now that I can watch for more than five minutes. Every reality show is basically a variant of one the following five shows:

*The Real World.

*Newlyweds.

*America's Next Top Model.

*Monster Garage.

*World's Deadliest Catch.

Want proof? Kendra = Newlyweds. Survivor = America's Next Top Model. Axe Men = Deadliest Catch. Pawn Stars = Monster Garage. Ad infinitum...

I just gotta put in a word for Seinfeld, as a show. It's great, clever, and unique observations.
I admit the laugh track detracts from it, and some of it is kinda boring, probably the seasons where Larry David had less to no input, but there's just way too many positives about too many episodes to write off.
It's the little things about it that are only focused on for like a second that get to me. The fact that Jerry's character is the "straight man," or the guy who isn't really the main supplier of comedy, yet he's the comedian, is interesting to me.
Just because Family Guy poked fun at Seinfeld once doesn't mean the two fan bases are mutually exclusive, and just because South Park brutally attacked Family guy one time doesn't mean the fan bases are exclusive either. I can appreciate all of them. I think South Park is about equal to Seinfeld in terms of sheer funniness where Family Guy comes a moderately spaced second place to those two shows.
I think Seinfeld's early seasons are gold, and up there with anything else I can think of. All this bashing is BS and I'm not convinced that those who think they "get it, yet don't like what they get" really do get it, judging from the vagueness of the criticisms. If it rubs you the wrong way, that's understandable. Opinions vary.

Let's see shows I hate...
Reality TV mind melters of all kinds
Non-Olympic Hockey games. But I love Olympic Hockey...go figure
Manswers
Robot Chicken
News/Opinion propaganda disasters except Hardball with Chris Matthews. That's the only one I can stand because his personality is ridiculous in an interesting way
Anything on MTV, VH1, E!, Tru TV
Most things on NBC
The Office, the American Version

Seinfeld is pure gold. I pretty can't stand a majority of what's on adult swim as far as shows I just plain don't understand. The reality remakes are getting excessive, particularly with the discovery and history channels. I mean, I get the draw to watch deadliest catch for a while, but now then have the logging show, the gold show, the swamp people show, I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but they're all just deadliest catch remakes.

Can you imagine what the meetings are like to think up a new show. 'uhhh, we need a new show, who's got ideas' ' lets make deadliest catch, but instead of crab fishing, lets make it with insert dangerous job here.' 'super duper idea!'

That fucking cooking show that people are always talking about - Masturbating Chef or whatever the fuck it's called, all soap operas, game shows, and 24 hour news channels that fill in time by repeating the same fucking story, Lost, Shameless (never seen the UK version, but I suspect that I would hate it also), the Footy Show, daytime talk shows, British murder serials like Ms. Marple, the CSI-like shows (all of them), children's programming that is intentionally patronizing and pretty much every Australian television show ever made (the quality of our television shows is downright embarrassing).

Shameless is the worst new show I've seen recently. The lead actress is fucking TERRIBLE and William H. Macy's depiction of a drunk is embarrassingly thin. Macy is a good actor. Some people can play "drunk". He can't. He plays a drunk caricature. It is painful to watch.

^Wow ATLL you and I are like the same on the history/discovery channel shows!
I fucking hate Axe Men, Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest catch, Pawn Stars, and all those types of shows. The main reason why I hate them isn't necessarily the shows themselves, sometimes they are entertaining, but it's the fact that History channel puts next to NO thought whatsoever in their programming and they just play day long marathons of these unoriginal, often boring, shows. When I look at my TV guide and I see just hours after hours of Pawn Stars or Axe Men I can't fucking stand it! What are they thinking?!? Those aren't even remotely history!
The History Channel is going the way of MTV. All lowest common denominator type shit as much as possible. Then whenever they have what I used to love, interesting documentaries about some random historical event, they play it up like it's some huge fucking deal that the History Channel is bothering to actually show some real history, but that's only on like a random Sunday night and the rerun happens only a few times the following week and then it's back to Truckers/Loggers/Fishermen/Pawn Shops/Metal Scrappers. Fucking redneckization of the world I tell ya!
Put some WWII on, or Roman history, or ANYTHING else! I used to think Modern Marvels was boring, but I started to miss it after all the crap they have on there now.
They used to have such kick ass shows like Dogfights, Ancient Battles (Where they used the Rome: Total War video game only with tweeked graphics to recreate ancient historical battles. I'm not sure of the name but it's NEVER on and that used to be one of my favorites!) And too many other great documentaries have been totally forgotten about.

Why Charlie Sheen became the highest paid actor for Three & A Half Men is beyond belief. Such an incredibly unfunny show - don't get it, because it seems to be the same joke in every episode. He's a womaniser, the brother is a dick & the young boy delivers unfunny one-liners like an involuntary spasm.

Shows like Everybody loves Raymond, Seinfeld & The King of Queens are full of characters that are....how can I say this?....horrible cunts. Some shows manage to nail awkward comedy really well, but these are just full of embarrassing situations caused by them being dicks :\

Oh and I fucking detested the Sopranos & 24. Thought I'd throw that in there while I'm at it.

Everybody Loves Raymond

(though I'm pretty sure I'm not missing what there is to 'get')

Indeed. I was always late for work like a year or two ago or cuz they'd sandwich Everybody Loves Raymond on in-between Frasier and Will & Grace. :|

Oh and I fucking detested the Sopranos & 24. Thought I'd throw that in there while I'm at it.

I never got 24, but The Sopranos was class. :D

Re CoffeeDrinker:
Count me as another ex-The History Channel--uh, I mean "History"!--fan. Though I still watch it from time to time, it's a fraction of its former quality. History International and the Military History Channel are basically what THC used to be, and it's a goddamned shame they're not on basic, at least not where I live.

This seems to have been the trend of many channels on basic, which seem to end up more and more like MTV everywhere, with stupid "countdown" and reality programs, and ridiculously strobe-tastic awards shows for narrower and narrower categories. That's another rant, though...

Lovely, a chance to drone and complain about things! :)

-Like Family Guy, never got into American Dad though(think the voice over of the Alien grates my ear drums)

-Sex and the City: Tried to watch it; a load of non-sense
(Jimmy Choo, Spoilt self involved rich women, Cosmopolitans, Dating, Juvenille Stereotyping, Spend money on overpriced stuff and excessive product placement -repeat again + bloody again Zzzzzzzzzzz)

-Desperate Housewives: ugh!8)

-Dancing on anything and all those bloody Idol, Talent things.

-Seinfeld: Gerry-the most cocky, unfunny, Comedian to grace the Galaxy(however I like Curb your Enthusiasm.)

-Lost: I watched the first Episode then felt I was being screwed over(think they made up the script right before they shot each show)

-C.S.I.: Ridiculous Drivel

-Raymond: in Everybody loves...Whiny, whingy one dimensional, annoying Stereotype.

-Teenage, reality anything

Actually, I dont like alot of things on television bar some; Animations, Comedies, Documentaries and News shows.

@ The Deceased: The British version of Shameless is actually quite good, much gritier, grossly, crude humour, ironic and far less censored. Saw about ten minutes of The American version (was interested to see W. H. Macy's potrayal of 'Frank), doesnt Translate well at all, found it terribly bland.

Generally speaking, I hate television. Random channel; surfing is one of the most annoying things ever and I want to shoot myself when guests do it.

I specifically hate Seinfeld and Everyone loves Raymond. Jerry Seinfeld has never said or done anything on that show that makes me laugh. I would rather turn the TV to literally any other channel when his show comes on.

Well, this aint a "dont get" but just a "i hate it."

The teen mom show. it makes me sick. They dont even show the reality of the situation. Sure, they show drama with the baby daddies and shit, but they all live with their parents or their parents take care of their kids, all their trouble is minor shit with their boyfriends or that they break up or they fight with their parents over their kids and whether they should still be allowed to go party with friends etc.

They dont show none of them in the projects, on fuckin food stamps and shit like that, they dont show how hard it really is and would bet my last dollar that at least one girl has seen that show and decided to try and get pregnant so she could get on there and get paid and ended up with a kid she couldnt take care of, broke, and very un famous and not on tv. its really glamorizing that shti no matter how much they claim to portray it as not a good thing,

I hate just about every 'reality' TV show. I haven't liked them from The Real World came on MTV when I was 7 up to 'The Real Housewives of Wherever'. I like watching The History Channel, that stuff always intrests me, but 'reality' TV is just bullshit.
