Television Shows you just "dont get" or just dislike

Everybody loves Raymond --why this is so popular over here I'll never understand it bores the shit outta me its just so fucking BLAH ; Futuruma, Adult Swim, Family Guy,South Park ---> yeah OMG blasphemy but it just never grabbed me AT ALL , I'd rather just stick to the Simpsons , the Powerpuff Girls and Courage the Cowardly Dog K thks...everytime I hear someone quote any of these cartoons I feel like rolling my eyes ; I tried watching Laguna Beach , the OC, Lost , 24 and Survivor but it just never really holds my attention. Friends...omg. Most annoying sitcom ever. (although ive seen episodes of it on cable...only when there is nothing else to watch 8()

I love everything else lacey blatantly hates too ;) Desperate housewives (although I want to have Teri Hatcher gang raped by dozen construction workers god i hate her lol...) Sex and the City, etc. and the ocassional pathetic REALITY Tv show yes , these entertain me. But everything I mentioned above...:p

And yep, sense of humor and whatever floats your boat is different for everybody, and I respect that. I aint going to mock you or say WTF YOU DONT LIKE THE SOPRANOS OMG YOU SUCK! Believe me, I totally understand where you're coming from if you dont happen to like something I do or vice versa.

why is it necessary to put people 'in their place' in this thread? obviously, this thread is about different opinions to begin with, so I really don't think that it's necessary.

^^um...thats exactly what i meant. I always have to reiterate how I feel about people having "different opinions and how I respect them " because in a thread such as this, its almost EXPECTED that some dipshit is going to jump in and call all the "family guy haters" morons or something. Just an example.

Spongebob Squarepants.

I can't work it out. Is it supposed to be cute? Is it meant to be funny? Do you like his name? What the hell is the attraction?!

Oh, and Dragonball Z. It's 20 minutes of people floating through the air with blurry backgrounds, yelling at each other about how much more powerful they are. Yay!

These shows aren't so popular now, but I can't think of anything thats on now, and I've kind of given up on TV.

I've noticed middle aged people and older married couples tend to enjoy Everybody Loves Raymond. I think to get a lot of the humor out of it you have to be used to that kind of suburban family dynamic (the in-laws, etc.) and the issues associated with it.

I don't like Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Seems like it's just weird for the sake of being weird, and I rather dislike that.

i dont like the humour in everybody loves raymond, i just think its really slow, or maybe its the actors, or the family, doesnt appeal to me

but i think family guy and futurama are stil good quality coming from the same producers as the simpsons....the only show that let me down was king of the hill, sometimes you get really good episodes and other times terrible ones...

theres my rant...end

i wasn't trying to put anybody in their place. my point, which perhaps i didn't make very well is that everything in the thread can be summed up in 5 words: different people like different things.

while i appreciate there's some value in discussing how that manifests itself, it's always struck me as odd that some people (seem to) have so much trouble with such a simple concept.

With respect, alasdair, I don't agree that all too many people have "so much trouble with such a simple concept."

Perhaps it's simply the case that many of these people "value discussing how that manifests itself" more than you do.

this is why i do no like "worst of," "least favorite," and "things you hate" threads. the discussion usually degenerates into people taking personal offense that others do not share their favorable opinions.

yup

...and i don't get CSI, Dog the Bounty Hunter, and the Gastineau Girls.

Im 23, not married, no in-laws, and not in suburbia and i love that show :D Ive loved it since it started lol. Im in the minority which is fine by me :)

I dont understand Fear Factor, Survivor, gameshows, hmm what else...amazing race def. dont like that one, trading spouses just doesnt make sense to me.

I find Family guy, futurama, aqua teen hungry force etc etc to be good when i am at a friends house stoned. I never watch it at home.

A quartet of utterly self-absorbed, vacuous, & frankly pathetically juvenile women, float through their meaningless lives, participating in not much else apart from talking absolute bollocks; although, lest we forget, at the end of each episode we're gifted with one of "SJP's" pearls of wisdom such as: "I finally came to the realisation that relationships don't always go exactly as you planned.....".

Really? Ah I see, thanks for that, I was beginning to wonder where I'd been going wrong all these years.

"A TV classic"......or a sadly indicative example of the shallow & materialistic times in which we live?

You decide for yourself.......I know I have.
Ya know I remember reading how SITC wasnt really popular in Great Britain ....=D
Anyway lol....i suppose it does get tired after a while, but you realize Sex and the City ended two years ago. So at the time it came out ( which was 1998) it was pretty hot shit.....it appealed to such a broad market with the simple premise of "if men can go around having sex with as many women as they want, why can't women benefit from the same right?" and letting us have a glimpse at the personal lives of 4 very good friends. It touches on some major issues of singles in the dating world while, at the same time, not having an overly dramatic or depressing tone ; it was groundbreaking in the sense that it wasnt afraid to push the boundaries to the limit, while being funny AND downright fuckin' entertaining. I know not many will agree with my comparison, but the devastating charm and wit of this show reminds me so much of the Golden Girls, another favorite show of mine.

Of course nobody talks about it anymore the way people used to...I mean cosmopolitans and fighting over who was most like Samantha is so passe.
So I can only surmise Lacey and whoever else just had the opportunity to watch this show LATELY would probably think, whats the effin big deal? :p

I loved it tho when it came out and reruns occupy a warm spot in my heart.

I think Family Guy and South Park are great shows. I can really relate to a lot of things that Matt and Trey do in South Park, and Family Guy is a good show on a Sunday after a big night out.

I honestly can't think of one show that I absolutely HATE, although I'm not a big fan of that 'Drawn Together' show on Comedy Central. There are some funny episodes, but overall that is my least favorite show on Comedy Central and possibly any channel.

Like most everyone else I can't stand Everybody Loves Raymond. All they do is bitch bitch bitch about each other, if I wanted to hear that I'd just listen to my own family.

I can't stand it either because the wife (Deborah?) is such a FUCKING BITCH. Has anyone noticed a trend lately in wives/mothers on sitcoms being portrayed as domineering, nasty, and vindictive? King of Queens is a perfect example, christ, I'd stab myself in the eye with a pencil if I had to live with that woman.

My girlfriend loves Will and Grace but I really don't find it funny. From what I understand, people praise this show for depicting gays so well. If you have one stereotypical "flaming" homosexual character and another who acts overly-masculine, is that the network's way of covering their ass?

Last but not least is South Park. Yes, it's so EDGY and Un-PC!! Oh GOD it pushes everyone's buttons! Yeah yeah we get it.

Charmed. My folks love this show, but I can't help but see it as a dumbed-down version of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", with more T&A.

Seinfeld. For me, it was (and is) just another sitcom, however funny Kramer was.

American Idol. Like I care who's going to win and make like, a single record before they drop out of sight.

Survivor. If these men and women were living like "Castaway", I might be interested. Other than that, give me a break.

Edit:

Someone brought up "Sex and the City." Truth be told, I like the show, but one thing about it that has always annoyed me is that the women seem to do nothing else but go to parties, dinner dates, and have sex, over and over and over. What are these people's real lives like?

No i can assure that the reason i thought it was stupid was not because I watched it past its heyday but more that as a fashion-indifferent, Manhattan-hating, 18 year old who hates everythign superficial, self centered, airheaded, and useless that these women talked about, I couldnt possibly give less of a shit about the stupid vibrator sex and shoes talk of 40 year old rich fashion obsessed women.

its like taking a old tractor ridin tobacco farmer from alabama and putting him at a Vogue catalog photo shoot. no interest at all. i could not relate to that show in any way.

I got a idea for this thread.
say what you wanna say as far as answering the topic, but if you disagree with someone, try and just not say that and keep it to your own opinion, not your own opinion on what someone else said. otherwise it will get totally cluttered up with people arguing about why their show IS good when someone else says it aint and the point will be gone.

I totally agree about sex in the city. any girl i know who liked it... i didn't really get along with them.

i don't like sarah jessica parker either. YUCK
