Television Shows you just "dont get" or just dislike

Gilmore Girls:
I love to hate this one 'cause it's so easy to mock.
First, the premise is laughable for a show with "uber-realistic family drama" pretensions. Rich white girl from Conneticut (?) gets pregnant at 16, decides to keep the baby, moves out and manages to support (nay, sustain an upper middle-class existence for) herself and the child....without any help from her parents. Meanwhile, the kid evolves into the most perfect creature God put breath into - all because the mother abided by some "rules" about keeping her daughter out of her dating life.
Second, this show is so blatantly scripted that it's painful to watch. All of the characters talk at a rapid-fire pace and have a snappy comeback for every occasion. This would be acceptable in a cartoon, but when using live actors it's generally advisable to retain some semblance of realism in dialogue.

Desperate Housewives:
I lost a little bit of respect for a friend after watching an episode with her (she likes it 8o ).

All reality TV shows:
Cheap that allows networks to get by without having to pay writers and actual actors, first popularized due to a TV writers' strike or some shit. The end products are invariably crappy, but people these days watch them regardless. Cha-ching.

I'm really surprised no one has brought up Twin Peaks, I thought it was great but a few friends can't stand it.

Everyone loves raymond annoys me because he is such a shitty husband and father. I don't find that amusing.

Well said.

And Seinfeld annoys me, not only because of the fact . . . (oops, I'm sorry, my "opinion"] . . . that the quality of its "jokes" are not in the same muthafucking sport, let alone the same muthafucking ballpark as the quality of the jokes in, say, Family Guy, Early 90's Simpsons, South Park, Dr. Katz, Viva Variety, It's Your Move, Taxi, Cheers, Early That 70's Show, The Odd Couple, Welcome Back Kotter, Frasier, Just Shoot Me, The Honeymooners, All In The Family, yes, I could continue, but then it would seem like I was biased-based-on-envy against that unfunny annoying dork.

But Seinfeld ALSO bothers me because of this "brilliant" concept:

All of the characters are immoral (or, AT BEST, amoral) and selfish and unfeeling and uncaring.

I get it.

It just isn't funny.

^I like all those shows and still think Seinfeld is pretty funny. Am I a freak? :(

I lot of people have a hard time getting past the soap opera style it was done in. I thought the show was genius and had one of the most disturbing story arcs I have ever seen.

Nope.

You're just empirically wrong on this one issue.

Just like gay guys must realize that I'm empirically wrong because I was born without the requisite mental-state to appreciate the provable fact that not only is penetrating a sexy partner's gaping smelly orifice a wonderful feeling, but BEING PENETRATED by a sexy partner in my own gaping smelly orifice is equally wonderful.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

And, yes, I do realize that my above post is so confusingly-worded that it's unclear from said post whether or not I'm as gay as [edited: no personal attacks] pretends not to be.

[stop the attacks or you, as anyone here, will be CLAWSed]

Peter Griffin (star of your favorite show, it seems) is moral? Selfless? Feeling? Caring?

ummm. Right.

lol, but, i think the difference is that it is obviously done out of humor, it is a cartoon, while the sitcoms tend to pretend to emulate real life. hate answering for others, but since i know where he is coming from i will anyway :D

So LL, you saw no value in the pretty experimental first few seasons of Seinfeld where they did the real-time episode in the Chinese restaurant, or got lost in the parking garage? Then again, you don't like Forrest Gump, so your opinion is suspect from the outset. ;)

The last seasons of Seinfeld were pretty doo doo I thought, but when Larry David was firmly in charge in the beginning and was churning out fresh material it was quality stuff.

How did Seinfeld emulate real life? LOL I don't think it did at all :)
By portraying real people, who worked and lived, without silly fake supernatural shit thrown in....and, it was totally based off real life wasn't it?? larry david bases characters off himself (i thought) and seinfeld WAS a comic, but yeah, i mean, yes it is extreme, tv is. real life isn't exciting enough to do a verbatim repeat of it on the telly, you have to spice it up. but family guy doesn't even attempt to be a real life sitcom, it has a talking dog and baby who is gonna take over the world =D

I mean, i see why you think lovelifes explanation is lame, but i get his drift, cause I do the same thing.

randy, if we meet we can watch reruns of curb your enthusiasm, but no damn seinfeld! :p =D

how realistic is it that a loser like george could work for the new york yankees? LOL!!

or that kramer could live for decades, seemingly, without any cash flow, but with a decent lifestyle?

ok :)

lol ok good point. I always hated how they had that ugly ass loser george getting attractive chicks, then not wanting them. and put that hottie julia with strange dweebs. yeah, point taken, fantasy.
