showering

Feeling dry is just because you use normal soaps. Normal soaps suck all the mositure off your skin as well as the grime/sweat/greeze...

Just go to the pharmisist and ask for a good moisturising product that cleans, something like shower milk.

For me i just use soap under the arms and arse/gential region first, then use the moisturing body milk/other product for the rest of my body, realy helps in the drier months.

I've slept on the street in Chicago...outside the damn passport office. Haha 3am to get a damn passport to go to Wales bullshit.

I like to wait until I feel really dirty before I take a shower. And yes, MC that is almost everyday since moving to the tropics :)

I like how everyone says "As long as you wash your face and hands" I never wash my face! (I have very clear skin too) I say keep your teeth clean before worrying about your face. At the very least get some mouth wash. I did that for about a month when I was 2-3 months pregnant and threw up every time I tried to brush my teeth. I just used mouth wash then brushed with a toothbrush but no paste.

^Oh Busty would be proud of you, LA! You're right, using mouthwash and a toothbrush sans toothpaste is just as good as brushing your teeth with toothpaste. :)

Hehe I gotta wash my face at least once a day as I am extremely oily ;) Do...not...want....oilmarks..on...my...pillow! Hahahaha. I am grateful for it though, as my oily skin means I virtually have no wrinkles, dont really need to use moisturizer, and definitely look younger! (i think).

Since I usually break a heavy sweat at some point throughout the day working out, showering daily is a must. Sometimes 2X daily. I can't stand going to sleep with a layer of dried sweat/oil on the skin. Not to mention possible staph infections and other hygiene related issues.

Also have minor scalp psoriasis, so if I don't at least wash my hair every day, my scalp becomes itchy/irritated and I will scratch the shit out of it until it starts flaking and burning.:X:X

don't you at least want to wash off your butthole?

A yoga book that I've read says to cleans the skin once a day. You should at least sponge bath.

If you live in the West maybe it is unhealthy for your skin because it can dry it out . In the tropics (where I live) there is no such thing as TOO MUCH showering. I shower at least everyday or at most, every other day. Stop listening to what others say and listen to your body...do you feel good after not showering for two weeks? Do you want to shower everyday or every other day? Do you smell decent enough to be able to go through your routine without scaring people away? Ya know its all really personal preference.

agree. I personally shower every single day because I would feel, for my personal self, really disgusting otherwise... but I can go six days without washing my hair, which some people find really disgusting if I tell them. It just doesn't bother me to have dirty hair unless it looks greasy and gross... but it does bother me to have sweat and dirt on my body.

Just curious, where are you that you can't shower for WEEKS at a time?

lol yoga says.
yoga manipulates people how it wants. its been doing it for so long, its funny nobody realizes it yet.

^How can yoga manipulate people? What aspect of yoga are you pertaining to?

A bit more elaboration-- and perhaps tone the abrasiveness down a bit--- would be good.

'use dettol hand sanitizer' 'use alcoholic hand cleansers' 'keep your hands clean'.

OMG you people.. do you realise WHY you get sick? Its not from not washing your hands enough, its from washing them TOO much with super strong solutions that kill the good germs aswell. I wash my hands about 5-10 times a day, usually only with water or maybe a lil soap and you know what? I NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER get sick.

On the average, I shower just about every other day, but if I'm in withdrawal/pain/spasms I'll hop in the shower for a hot soak.

I wash my face twice a day, which is really important I'd say, and I was my hands about 20 times a day because of work.

washnig your hands 10 times a day is excessive. Just wash them before you eat or prepare food.

It's probably healthier to not shower daily, depending on how 'hard' your water supply is. I once heard that for each ten minutes in the shower, you absorb enough of the added chemicals in the water through your skin equivalent to drinking 8 glasses of tap water. Can anybody confirm or dis-confirm this??

i'im the same way. I love the feeling of getting all dirty and dusty only to wash it all of with a nice hot shower. Or cold depending on the weather...I can't explain it, but there's a certain feeling I have in the morning that lasts all the way up until I shower. It's like the shower, for me, is the official 'start' of the day for the majority of the western working class. I started showering at night/afternoon because of that.

Hah! I'm a clean freak and I never get sick. I dunno where people get this shit, that being too clean makes you even more susceptible to illness *rolls eyes*.

maria i think it means when u miss just one day not cleaning ull get sick for sure because u clean so much and so often, ur body cant function well if u dont now.

^^hehe...but nah....I used to go for a week without showering (during my lazy, hippy phase) and I was still perfectly healthy ;) I guess it may be true for some others but its definitely a case to case basis ! :D

I've heard it actually has a lot more to do with how your were raised as a child. For example, children who grow up with pets tend to have stronger immune systems as adults. Once you're an adult, I dont know if simply washing differently will really effect it.

your immune system is constantly getting weaker or stronger.. you cant just 'build one up as a child' and be set for the rest of your life. You gotta get 'mild sickness' often.. for me thats a slightly stuffy nose and needing to drink more water than normal. I get it prolly a couple times a month for a day or 2 each time and i dont mind it at all cause i know its making my immune system stronger and its whats keeping me from actually getting sick to the point it has negative effects on my daily life.

I dont think washing your hands 5-10 times daily is excessive... i do it after each time i piss or shit and each time before i prepare food and then sometimes before i eat food. Which equates to about 5-10 times a day.

A couple of times a month?! That seems like a lot. I probably get that once or twice a year. I've had worse 2, maybe 3 times in my whole life.
