If your pill is only showing MD(M)A using traditional testing methods but you suspect piperazines go to a KMnO4 oxidation test. Described below.
Just take something like 25-50mL of distilled or RO water (doesn’t matter) and dissolve KMnO4 until the solution is saturated (no more dissolves). You can easily and quickly find KMnO4. Then add the saturated solution to a small amount of pill scrapings and if it smells of almonds there is likely one of the following. Any piperazine of abuse, Ketamine, or ephedrine derivatives such as(Meth)amphetamine, pseudoephedrine or ephedrine, or any molecule with the possability of oxidatively cleaving off a benzandehyde or halogen substituted benzaldehyde can't think of anymore rite now. Just look at the fore mentioned molecules and you can see where the (halo-substituted)benzaldehydes are being oxidatively cleaved. If only MD(M)A is present it will smell like piperonal which smells like floral/flowery, note piperonal is the 3-4MD substituted benzaldehyde not a halogen substituted benzaldehyde.
Works every time but you have to couple your result with marquis reagent and mendellin reagent or another to be 100% sure none of the testable ones above are present. Example: if you see orange or brown in the marquis reagent test this test becomes invalid because (meth)amphetamines will likely smell like almonds using this test. If you find that the pill is
only showing that MD(M)A is in the pill using traditional testing methods but you over oxidize it and smell benzaldehyde (the almond smell) then you can be pretty sure there are pipes in there (or in very rare case detecting ketamine or ephedrine derivitives that were below detection limits of marquis or hidden by the black/purpleness). There may or may not be a brown precipitate but if there is a lot of pipes in there it will turn from purple to brown pretty fast. Trust me, it works. The almond smell will be very noticeable. Doing the test in a shot glass can make the smells easier to notice because you can cup ur hands around it to get a solid wiff USING CAUTION obviously.
-Word of caution: Obviously this "test" requires a bit of practice, knowledge, even skill to "know" the smells and is subjetive but the results are pretty conclusive if you are an experienced pill tester using traditional methods.
Note: When I figured out about this I got 11 shot glasses and put the following in each one to test and practice the smelling:
1) ~2mg MDMA
2) ~2mg MDA
3) ~0.5mg Amphetamine(adderall IR)
4) ~0.5mg Methamphetamine
5) ~unknown mg TFMPP BZP - fleur de lis (

6) ~5mg ketamine from liquid solution, tiny drop of 100mg/ml solution
7) ~1mg Pseudoephedrine - scraped from rite aid extended release tablets.
8) ~1:1 mix of MDMA: piperazines
9) ~10mg Propylhexedrine - extracted from 2 benzedrex inhalers as HCL salt and purified extensively as per purifications PDF below.
10) ~20mg Benzocane free base - extracted from 20% Orasol liquid by see purifications PDF below. The most pure fraction was used.
11) 3 drops KMnO4 Only
purifications
Add 3 drops of KMnO4 to each shot glass, wait 1 minute and smell the result and observe any brown precipitate.
Result: you can actually smell the difference between many of these very effectively.
-1 and 2 smell like floral and aldehyde with a hint of "chemical" eventually brown precipitate formed.
-3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 smell like almonds but 3, 4, 7 smelt different than 5, 6, 8 which smelt similar to each other a brown precipitate formed much faster for #5 and #8 than for any other (might be loading related donno). #5 also smelt the most almondey, loading related then #8?
8) The most important thing to take from this test is I could bairly bairly smell the floraley smell almost totally smelt like almonds.
9) Smelt like rotten organic molecule for the first 10-20 seconds mixed with a "chemicaley" aldehyde like smell but after a minute or two an overwhelming odor of flowery sickly sweet was present along with the rotten pungent smell. then this began to fade into a weird yet oddly not pleasant purely sickly sweet smell. cyclohexanecarbaldehyde being oxidized further to cyclohexanecarboxylic acid? I have noo idea why this smelt flowery but only a very small amount of brown precipitate along with some other crystals formed very quickly and crystals formed on the surface of the solution later could be contamination but unlilely if you read purification.pdf i linked to.
10) no smell other than a slightly noticeable difference cannot describe in words or comparisons maybe like a rotten root beer like odor after 5 minutes + the original smell of the compound and also produced a lot of brown precipitate and bubbles.
11) slightly smelt "chemicalley" cannot describe in words VERY faint- basically no smell
