Hi, This is a long story made short. I had a severe problem with opiates back in 2005. I did manage to get off of them by going to treatment.
Here is what happened. I hade major gum surgery on my tooth, It was really painful I was reluctant to take the Vicodin they gave me. Finally the pain got so bad i cracked and used them. I was only going to use them for the pain. I had to have more surgery and continued the Vicodin for about 3 months and was unable to ween off. i ended up with a 50 mg opiate addiction. I talked with my doctor and he put me on 2 mg of sub twice a day. i have not taken vicodin for a week now and i have only taken sub for week should i try to quit the sub now before i am addicted to the sub really bad

I would appreciate feedback on this

Maybe try, and if you can't handle it then instead of going back to the vicodin go back to the suboxone. Also, 2mg once a day would probably be a more reasonable dose considering your minor habit. 2mg of suboxone is already stronger than 50mg of vicodin, which is why I suggest not taking anymore than that, but for some people they take more to control cravings so keep that it mind.

I was just thinking of staying on it as a maintenance dose. The doctor had also talked to me about going to 1 mg twice a day and then try quiting completely from there. Sometimes for someone like me who is 64 years old who has struggled with drugs and alcohol all my life would be better to just stay on a maintenance dose. Whats your thoughts on that Tommy

I mean it's pointless to get off or lower your dose if you are going to relapse because of it, so I would say try if you really want off, or just maintain for the foreseeable future.
