excuse me, not that I mind that you moved my thread from basic drug dis. To drug cul., but my original thread title was "should marijuana be legal", not "should all drugs be legal". Would you please change it back?
 
I totally agree intenselife. Alcohol is the number one cause for violent crime. But you don't ever hear of someone getting into bar fights after smoking a joint. Or someone losing their mind and murdering someone. Or killing each other over some lovers quarrel.
 
you would legalize E and acid and not heroin? if someone wants to shoot H they will find a way legal or not .atleast if it were legal they could have the proper resources and education to make informed decisions and get help if needed without fear of criminal prosecution
 
Wow, I see a bunch of idiots here now. When this was its own thread, at least there were voices of reason. Now it's all about "well such and such isn't as bad as this or that, so it should be legal." The fact of the matter is my life is my life. As long as I don't harm anyone else(inflict pain, steal from, threaten, etc), the government has no fucking say in the matter. If and when I do harm someone else(ie stealing for marijuana/heroin money), THEN a crime had been committed. This is common sense, and the people who can't comprehend the morals involved in the situations probably will never be able to. I'm out of this bullshit thread.

I agree alt 14. When I started the original thread there was definitely some intelligent conversation, but the moderator decided to merge my thread into this shitstorm thread of stupidity. Not my fault dude. I'm out of here too. I'll think of something intelligent to talk about and start a new thread and hopfully moderator-man won't decide to pull his weight again. Please join me on my new thread when I get it started .
 
I'm not sure what needs to be done exactly, but something needs to change; there needs to be a serious, serious change in drug policy. It needs to be decriminalized, for sure, and perhaps certain drugs needs to be legalized even. It's not helping anyone with the way that things are now, peoples' careers being ruined and such -- it's terrible.
 
I don't think ALL drugs should be legalized, some drugs are just far too dangerous and destroy lives and communities very quickly. Some cause people to go insane and engage in criminal activities such as raging assault and murder. And what I find most disturbing is that one drug that is legal - alcohol - is one of the worst of these drugs!

I'm not sure which drugs would cause an individual to engage in such criminal activities as "raging assault" and "murder." I mean, with drug-related gang violence being the exception, drug users and addicts themselves tend to be largely docile and tend to commit only misdemeanor sort of crimes, petty theft and such; granted, violence between gangs controlling the drug trade can be pretty serious and pretty horrific even, but it's something that I think we can find some solution to and, in part, solve by legalizing and then regulating the now-illicit drugs themselves.
 
Drugs are simply too diverse for them to be demonized by prohibition or to have them ALL be legal. I mean, you can't put aspirin in the same category as ammonium nitrate.



Personally I think there should be MAJOR testing done on all classes of drugs, find safer versions of classic drugs and make them legal so people won't have to stray to MDPV or 6-APblahblahblah.


For example if amphetamine was available to all those who needed it, we'd probably have a lot less meth going around. We could have cocaine/opiates with labeled doses and guarenteed purity, which will curb ODs. And if a legal drug market opens up subject to federal guidelines, we'd be taking money from the pockets of criminals. Now, I don't think everyone should be able to buy what is deemed as "safe(ish)".. like buying a gun, certain mental illnesses or a violent past may keep you from getting something like cocaine. For those that have been good, they would need to take classes and pass a test to demonstrate basic common sense with these substances, and perhaps put limits on the amount of the more highly addictive drugs that you can buy at a time.

This wouldn't take away the underground market completely, but with 99% of customers going through legal methods of getting their product you're going to deal unfixable damages on cartels and other drug rings. It will probably push them to other forms of crime, but without their main source of money they will be severely crippled. People want to get high, but they also don't like breaking the law... if they could get high (not drunk) without doing anything illegal I'm more than sure the majority would, even if that means busting some old habits to stay within the new laws

I understand your concern but this is a busy forum and sometimes moderator are left with tough choices as to whether or not to allow certain threads and where they should be located. Perhaps if you want to just talk about cannabis then CD will let you run thread about it. The moderators in CD will probably allow it. Seyer is a good guy who doesn't try and wield his power unnecessarily. Most if not all mods do this out of a labor of love for HR. While there may exist mods that like to be dicks Seyer isn't one of them.
 
My friend, with all do respect, if you don't think alcohol causes a lot of raging assaults, murders, and a whole bunch of other violent crimes, then I must respectfully request that you do a little more research on this subject. Its a well known fact that alcohol is a factor in the majority of crimes, especially violent crimes. And if you think drug users are generally docile, I'm quite sure that if you ever meet a crack head or a meth head desperate to get his/her next fix you would find good reason to change you mind about that!
 
Ok WA, perhaps I overeacted . I appologize. I'm new to this site and I shouldn't be so quick to judge when things don't go my way, and for that I am sorry. I will apologize to the moderator as well. Thanks for the heads-up.

Are you talking to me I'm lost? I am no alcohol advocate. It's a very harsh drug both in terms of physiological and social consequences. I consider it a drug in every way. No special status in my book.
