The idea of "official" threads wouldn't work for the same reason the search function doesn't work in here so topics repeat. Everyone's thoughts and subjective experiences are unique, so despite the fact that we are all describing the same thing (everything and/or the perception/experience of everything), no two descriptions are alike, and all we are left with are semantic disputes.

Maybe T&A should be renamed "SemAntics". Perhaps the guidelines can be updated to advise posters to be as specific as possible. When they say "god", who do they mean. When they say infinite, do they mean forever or really big. etc etc. If you want to be poetic, take it to "words".

Geez, it's not like this place is a reputable source of scientific, religious or any spiritual info. Trolls, flamers, and bickerers, please note what BL is primarily for and relax. Enjoy it as the sidenote that it is. This shit just does not matter enough to get upset about.

No one is being converted to or from any belief system in here, and anyone who thinks otherwise is just deluded, and anyone who tries is just milking for attention and need a life of their own.

Oh, I don't by any means think some group of fundementalist Christians are poisoning our forum. I do think, however, that there is a wealth of threads which are mainly pointless, hostile bickering between Xians and anti-Xians...that is my main frustration...

What about that fun energy/math debate? :)

This could be good or bad. It would allow Christian to Christian debate with out the "God doesn't exist" etc. comments cluttering up the debates. But in "does God exist" type threads the atheist side wouldn't be accuratelyt represented as much.

first thread in the dogma & Religion forum :

- i believe god exists, and you?
- yeah, me too
- cool
- ...
- you don't want to doubt a little?
- no no, i really believe
- don't want to pretend a bit so i can convert you back?
- eh, no, i've been working on securing my place in heaven for 20 years, don't want to spoil it now!
- damn. what do we do then?
- don't know. i can comfort you a little more in your faith if you want
- no thanks, i already have faith coming out from all holes
- hey, let's go convert the guys in T&A then!
- yeah, cool. this forum was boring anyway

as much as i find some of the posts annoying and think they're a waste of time, they can always potentially generate some interesting ideas

also, it would be a shame for bl to have a forum where flawed religious ideas stand uncorrected because only those who agree are posting there

or we could just ban Turbo Monk and Christian Soldier ;)

^Hey, I hardly ever post here anymore. I started reading in here when Bluelight started back when I was athiest/agnostic, and pretty much every single new post now is a rehash of what I've read many times before.

Okay...just to reiterate (this is my thread, after all), the anti-christians have been a larger problem with these types of garbage/rehash threads than the vehement christians.

As long as SHATT doesn't decide to embark on a new crusade to convert us heathens and come back to Bluelight, I can handle T&A with some of the less annoying fundies. :) Strangely though, I don't recall a person of any other faith besides Christian to impose their beliefs upon me.

^lol, and I find atheists the ones mostly trying to impose their beliefs upon me. I will usually politely tell them that if they don't preach to me, I wont preach to them. Funnily at the moment, I'm actually going out with an athiest, and we respect eachothers beliefs.

I agree. You appear to be one of the most good natured in these types of shitty debates.

okay...
I think it is pretty clear that such a forum will not be created in the near future. Unless I receive an argument against, I am going to un-sticky this thread in like 36 hours.

Why non-chrisitans would even go into a christian thread, about the christian God who they dont believe in, for any other reasons other than to educate themself or to cause trouble is beyond me. Its pretty simple, if it is a christian thread about a God you dont believe in then just stay out of the thread! Dont go into it telling people how ignorant they are for not believing in God. And same goes for christiand telling non christians why they are dumb for not believing in God. I read this forum a lot but dont post, but i see non christians trying to mock and cause trouble with the FEW christians MUCH MORE than the other way around.

there you go - problem solved. :)

If a seperate religious forum is created we should also make a seperate complain about your personal life forum besides words.

science/tech forum and a spirituality/religion forum
id personally LOVE a science/tech forum, ive always wondered why there isnt one? as for a religious forum, i donno, dont really care

I don't support it. The "God Exists?" threads are very important to those new to religious debate, we just have to try and not let our jadedness show because it will eventually deter new posters from coming. Without a steady influx of new people and their unique ideas, the forum stalls and you'll be stuck debating the same shit with the same people.

In general, the spiritual crowd are very timid and I was sorry to see them go, though in hindsight I felt I contributed to that by pushing a somewhat atheist viewpoint into many of my posts whilst being one of the more active mods.
