Opioids Should 90 mg methadone block an 8 mg Dilaudid in general?

I IV'ed one 8 mg dilly and certainly felt the rush, stronger than expected, and even some afterglow. I didn't want to increase my MMT dose again but if it's not blocking, I know I will eventually relapse, so I don't know what to do now. I really need to be one hundred percent clean, but this is a serious compulsion for me.
 
im on 95mg methadone, i get pretty much 95% blockage. i shot 6 bags of strong heroin where the average addict not on methadone only needed 1 or 2 to nod, andi i got no rush no high. before methadone i was shooting 4mg dillys, all i got was a 3sec intense rush no afterglow, i went thru 30 pills in an hour..waste..if ur on methadone why u trying to get high?? methadone is to stay away from the shit..9/10 times ur wasting money if using opiates on 90mgs meth

I realize that, and that is where I need to be. I felt most of that 8, for sure, despite being on 90 mg and obviously there are still cravings strong enough to get me to use in the first place so..seems like I should up the meth dose, but again, I don't want even worse sexual side effects, drowsiness, etc. Not to mention hell coming off it. Although I plan on being on MMT as long as necessary, and eventually do a proper and very slow taper.
 
Because methadone is a full agonist of opioid receptors it should not "block" other opioids except at very high doses - generally it just overpowers them. Also, because people generally maintain a constant blood level of methadone, it drives your opioid tolerance up.

Buprenorphine is better if you want real "blocking" effects. If you're on a reasonable dose of buprenorphine, it's a partial agonist with high affinity, & will prevent everything but fentanyl from binding.

Disclaimer: I don't use methadone or bupe.
 
You just started methadone, right Bomb? It takes a little while, unless at a really high dose, for the build up of doses to occur, hence causing that blocking much more.

The blocking dose in general is also different for certain people. For some it's lower, like 70mg's.. for others, it's well over 100. Just depends. Either way, as you're on it longer, you will notice it blocking more and more as your system becomes saturated with methadone and the doses stack up on top of each other.

Clearly though, you're still having cravings to use.. which is indicative of a problem. Whether your dose isn't high enough, or your mindset just isn't right, something has to change for the methadone to be successful, ya know?

I've said this before in other threads. Often times, it takes only an extra 5-10mg's to make a huge difference, and get you over that hump, to the point where you are stable and the cravings go away.
 
im on 180mgs of mdone :) im thinking of spiting my dose but in the morning im to sluggish too.. what should i do
 
If you think you'll benefit from split dosing.. then do it...

You just giving us very basic info and then flat out asking, "so what should I do?" is kind of silly... What are we supposed to say? Do whatever the hell you want.. just be safe.. and if you don't know if an action is safe or not, then ask that question.
 
Fuck yes. At the methadone clinic they put a rush on moving my dose as quickly as they could up finally to 115 mg and i stopped being able to feel dilaudid (i shoot about 32 mg at a time to get high) at 50 mg. my drug of choice is heroin and i stopped feeling good shots of that at about 75. BUT, the good news is that the methadone will leave your system more quickly than they let on... on 115 mg I can feel a decent shot about a day off it.
 
i really am shocked by people saying the blocking dose is so high -- im little but i am on a high dose and the blocking started pretty quickly... methadone really does affect different people differently. also, be very careful mixing stuff with it -- youll feel your heart slow down if you play too much going back and forth between stuff like dilaudid and mdone. not one of my favorite personal experiences.
 
Interesting topic, ive been on methadone for a about 3 years. I was on 120mg's until a couple of months ago when I lowered it down to 70mg.
Feeling stable at 70. Ive not had any relapses on opioids but I do have cravings but I have stuffed them with other drugs instead because I felt
that it would only be a waste of money if I wasn't even going to get a simple rush.

Now I got a faucet for these 4mg Hydromorphone pills and I really want to try and catch a quick rush but im not sure if it would actually produce anything since
I have a pretty big "normal" tolerance to opioids to begin with..

Yeah it's different for everybody. For some, the blocking dose is pretty low, others it takes a lot of methadone for that to happen.

Dose: 180mgs of Mdone per 24 hours

pretty much just taking the medicine 1st thing in the morning and wait an hour till kicks in.

I'm not sure what type of reaction if I split my dose. I'm thinking that I won't like it in the 1st 1 hour and just take the the 2nd half 1hour later

What I'm asking is whats a good ratio for me work with 70 / 110 ... 90/90 ?
 
Like Sekio said, methadone doesn't truly block anything, it just makes it so you don't "feel" other opioids because of the high level of methadone in your bloodstream.

Although, I always felt the "rush" when I IVd heroin while on methadone, it died right after that, and I didn't feel "high"..

Trying to get high from 8mgs of hydromorphone while on 90mgs of daily methadone would be like doing shots of whisky steadily throughout the day for a month, and then one day trying to drink a Bud Light with it in the hopes of getting drunk..It's not happening!
 
I severely doubt that you would feel anything after the initial rush, if you even feel that. So is it worth abusing hydromorphone if you're going to feel it for 30-60 seconds? Pretty much every sane person would say No Fucking Way.
 
the whole point of getting increasing at the methadone clinic is for phyiscal issues ( like u feel like the methadone is wearing off at night and u feel weakish, withdrawlish) and they increase you. or u feel very uncomfortable in the morning as soon as u wake up and feel classic opiate symptoms, they increase you. some people methadone just wears off quicker then others..but if u take 60mg daily methadone thats enough to prevent u from feeling high on opiates...the mental part is what us addicts gotta deal with...the methadone is here for the physical discomfort..oddly the methadone im on, 95mgs, kills all mental cravings...

exactly. i find dilaudid to be weak IMO. im on 95mgs of methadone, and my buddies who shoot H, had this batch where 2 bags had them nodded out asleep drooling. i did 6 bags knowing i would need more on methadone, all i felt was a weak rush, and no high..back to sober..my girlfriend did the same and got pins and needles and then it all disaPPREAED. COMPLETE WASTE OF $$
