Shot up for the first time(need some help)

Ok so for the first time ever I shot some dope into my veins.. To prepare the shot i put the tar in water, i let it dissolve into complete liquid, and then I put a lighter underneath it until it solid particles kinda floated up to the top.. i then got a small peice of cotton, very small and then stuck it in the liquid, put the needle in, and sucked all the liquid in again, I had a full shot..i then put the liquid from the syringe into the spoon once more, and used another peice of cotton, and got half a shot.. I did this to be exrta safe of course...anywho.

I got the shot put it on the visible vein in the crook of my elbow...saw some blood go into the shot i paused, and shot in about 10 cc..i still have a lot in the shot left.. how long is the shot good for before it goes bad, and did i do the prepping right

Sounds like you prepped it okay. Just make sure to filter it really well, one cotton is fine, but use a large cotton and I would look into micron-filering if you plan to continue to IV. As for leaving the shot in the syringe 1.) Why would you leave it in there? Just finish it when you prep it, and 2.) I would not let your shot sit in the syringe after you had already registered with another vein. When you registered the first shot and drew back, blood entered your syringe, this blood will then quickly coagulate into a clot if left still for a period of time, then is will most likely clog your syringe, or even worse enter your blood stream and could possible cause a pulmonary embolism or a different thrombo-embolism. I notice clotting in the syringe even after struggling to hit a vein for 10 minutes when small amounts of blood get drawn in.

The simple thing to do is only prep what you are going to shoot, but you could also just shoot the solution into a spoon and filter the bloody solution again, which is gross and can't be great for you in my opinion. Be safe, I advise you to stick to snorting.

Don't put more drugs in a syringe than you're planning to take in one shot. As hamwaggle said the blood that's now in your syringe could lead to complications.

I'll assume you mean 0.1 cc (10 units), because for 10cc (=10ml) it'd have to be a huge syringe if you had alot left in it after injecting that.

koo thanks for the advice guys. to be honest, snorting seems a lot better just due to the slow rise and come down of the high. shooting kinda just whacked me and went away fairly quickly. As for reusing what I got there..i was more scared of blood born illness. would it be safe to just squirt the rest in my nose. i know it sounds gross, but its my blood god dangit

as for the cotton usage, when i use bigger peices of cotton for IM it seemed like I lost alot of dope. i think i need some help with the filtering, or i will just do as you suggested hamwaggle and look into micron filtering..
