Here we have the entries for the voting. Remember, do not reveal whose stories there are.

First Entry

A letter to that special irreplaceable ingredient in my life:

When things aren’t too great, you make them better.
When I feel I’m missing something, you fill the spot.
Some people use you too much, or try to change you and add to you.
I prefer you the way you are, and would never overuse or change you.
You are perfect.
When there's beef. You’re always there with me, by my side.
The first time I dipped my biscuit in you, I knew it was meant to be, it just felt right.
Was like love at first bite.
If only everyone could experience the way you make our dinner so great, maybe you would receive more appreciation.
My point of this is to tell you, that you are my gravy to my mashed potato life, you make it better for me.
You top it all off well. You fill the gap that my life is missing.
Without you I would prefer life to be tasteless.
And for that I thank you.

Second Entry

The Gravy Train

(A Short Story/Slam Poem)

So many think it's all gravy / to stand around and get paid to do easy-peasy free work with no meaning. / Do you know who makes your gravy, Sir Lazy, Dazy, "can't even face a challenge today"? / It seems weak, when so many can't see that this gravy of which I speak, / is laboured hard by those who care about the economy. / So keep leaning / and let us stew up the freedom you get to feel by cheating the system, and hoppin' on the gravy train. / There's no pain when you think it's all fun and games, / until this train wrecks, and you're left with a salty gravy mess. / That's just more to stress about, / why not get out of that boat, and realize that it takes effort to live, / opportunities come and go, / but that doesn't mean you should follow the flow of what's easier to show, / because there really is nothing to show when the gravy train flows for you, / and all the chances pass by before you have a chance to do anything about it. / So get off that lazy train, gravy is for biscuits and fries, / I tell no lies, it'll all go to your thighs if you keep up the bathing in gravy and letting the real work pass by.

Cheers!

lol sorry I havent been online for so long! Thanks for the win. I didnt expect to.. I actually thought more people would enter the contest to be honest :/ oh well.
Its all in good fun anyway :)

I personally miss the rap battle thread.... But if it was geared more towards a slam poetry thread, that would be sweet. :) Freeform poetry. Let your mind flow! :D
