One thing nice about BL is that so many people here really are using the COMMUNITY aspect of BL to avoid sinking to depths ; many people are doing risky things , but in the healthiest way possible thanks to accessibilty of info .
I agree with this.
And I enjoy the honesty of this thread.
A gut feeling has prevented me from ever injecting heroin two days in a row. Then those two days turn into a week, and then that week turns into several months. I am, blessedly, too chickenshit to really get that particular ball rolling, though I've surely done more dangerous things with pharmaceuticals than many heroin users ever do with their heroin.
The moments that have made me step back from opiate use would be laughably small moments for many BLers to hear, moments of shout-out concern for many other BLers, fairly shocking things for most of my friends to hear, and unspeakable horrors for people like my parents to hear. I don't have stories even close to 'shooting puddle water', but that doesn't mean I haven't been recklessly near to death because of drugs - it's just never been during the precise moment of ingestion.
The actions described here, I think, are often things you catch yourself doing, find yourself doing, or even have to be reminded that you did. I want to say thanks to everyone who's shared honestly, not only because, for me, it serves the purpose that stillbeing mentions above, but also because it touches some other part of myself that I recognize. I know that sounds pretty insipid, and I'm sorry that I can't think of a better way to phrase it.
No disrespect meant to anyone (ever), but saying that if you would shoot a hit of dope with puddle water, you may as well just use the puddle water - for me, personally, that misses the point. What if you come back into recognizing yourself after you already shot the puddle water and you don't know who you were for twenty minutes there? And well, it's really not true that you may as well just use the puddle water: if you're going to shoot yourself with contaminated water, you may as well put some dope in it.
Moreover, what if you willingly trade your life for a hit, take the hit, and find yourself deposited back in a living body once again? It's obviously happened to some of the posters in this thread.
I like the sharing of stories and hope it continues. The temptation to post fictions is obvious, so the usual grain of salt is inevitably taken, but I particularly like this thread; it's at the heart of places like Bluelight in certain ways. In this age, many of us use experiences relayed via the Internet to 'draw the line'.
