shoot vs. snort duration

I myself believe that there are several factors that can play into the presence of a difference in duration, in relation to methods of administeration.....

1. -IV.......EVERY bit of the drug is being introduced into your body at pretty much the same time; hence the rush, hence the "short" duration (half-life like rach said)

2. -Insufflated?? There is going to be an INEVITABLE amount of the drug that is delayed in its introduction to your bloodstream; whether its caught in your boogers or in your nosehairs, it WILL reach your system; just not right away......

3. -ORAL........Food?? whatever else in your stomach/intestines causes the drug to hit you in a more "time-released" fashion??? That's why the drug lasts longer and takes longer to metabolize....

3.- Rectal.....POOP???? Inevitably there no matter what, even if you drop the kids off at the pool before you administer.......There will be a delay in absorbtion/metabolism here too.....



SOOO, like rach said, the half-lives are all the same, its just how our body processes it that makes each durartion slightly different....

-when u snort somthing the dose doesnt enter the bllodstream all at once. some residue can stay in your nose for minutes or hours after the line. so even after the line you have small ammounts of the drug sowly entering your blood stream.
-where as if you shoot it's all it your blood at once. and little if any sits around like when u snort.

so the half life is all the same, but when you shoot up the half life begins instantly and when you snort the half life begins instantly, but the drug doesnt enter your blood instantly when u snort. so the half life is the same, but the drug just takes longer to enter your blood stream

Yes, when you insufflate there is a difference in absorption, but not to a degree that a user would find it noticeable. Oral consumption is subject to first pass metabolism but the substance is still excreted in an identical manner.

Creative: Yes, I am sure. You are talking about methods of absorption. Once the target substance is ingested, it enters the bloodstream regardless of mode. Once it is in the bloodstream, it will be excreted in a uniform manner. While oral consumption does have a difference in onset [as opposed to i.v. usage], the duration of effects will be the same. If you and I are sitting in my living room and I produce one 100 mg. bag of heroin for each of us, you insufflate yours and I inject mine, my onset will be noticeable quicker due to the direct entry to my bloodstream. yours will be 180 to 400 seconds longer due to the mechanics of insufflation. those 180 to 400 seconds are in fact a difference in overall duration but not really discernible. Once both of us have the heroin in oursystems, we will excrete it in within set parameters. There are individual variables but not enough so that a person could state that overall duration determined it. A better analogy perhaps would be to use you in both positions within the scenario. If you were to insuffkate that bag, wait out the overall duration and time it...then inject an identical bag the next day and record the time....you will find that it had a nearly identical overll duration.
