Shipping Proxies (US to US)

I am trying to purchase a converter for my bong (essentially a down-stem), however to only vendor on the entire internet that has the specific down-stem I need does not ship to my state.

Since glass-ware paraphernalia is not illegal in my state, I am considering shipping proxies. Basically this would be a service that receives a package for you in another state, then mails it to you directly (acting as a middle-man mail carrier). This would be an inside-the-US transaction.

I would have it shipped to one of the states the vendor DOES ship to, then have that proxy send it me. Does anyone know anything about shipping proxies? Do they inspect packages and prohibit certain items? What's your advice here?

I know nothing about shipping proxies, but I know that it is illegal for any shipping company to open a package unless it is posing a risk somehow. The exception to that rule would be the USPS. With that being said, I doubt shipping proxies operate within that law.

Why don't you find another website to purchase from instead?

^^ There is only one individual (internet vendor) that has the specific converter that I need (I searched over an hour on google). The item is in low demand, and thus is rare and very hard to find.

It is a slide-converter that turns a 9mm grommet down-stem into a 14.4mm glass-on-glass down-stem. It's essentially a slide that acts like a down-stem: it is 9mm on the bottom hole, and 14.4mm on the top hole.

Maybe talk to the person who makes the glass? Maybe you guys can work something out. Or why don't you have it shipped to a friend/family member out of state.. I don't know. I haven't ever used a proxy (kind of sounds sketchy) but I don't see why they wouldn't just ship it to your place. Its not like its illegal to have.

I'm pretty sure you could also just go to a custom online store... Like a person who makes slides ect and ask them for a custom piece. A lot will make it for you personally.

Its not hard to find a glassblower these days. And you could either pay in pot or cash i bet.

^That's what I was gonna say. Just look for glass blowing classes and go ask someone there to make it for ya if you're having a hard time finding one.

You also mention that glassware isn't illegal in your state. If I were you and I couldn't find a glass blower I'd just ask my local headshop dude if they'd order your "water pipe" down stem. For tobacco use only of course.
