Shipments of 160mg Oxycotin suspended.

i dont like reading this,BUT does the DEA actually think they can stop OXY from being abused??c'mon, theyve been there, done that and FAILED!!!!!!!!!!
OXY forever!!!
MEEZ' heard there are some TASTY little plans for OXY in the near future, that will make it widely AVAIL...

The DEA did not have anything to do with this.. at least that's what they claim. The manafacture is no longer going to sell it in such a high dose.. instead they will prescibe people who need it, 2 smaller doses at once.
Won't make a damn differnece though.

I wonder if the manufacturer is working on a way to make this stuff impossible to bang....kinda like generic hydromorphone.

It's a PR move - like they said, only 1% of their OxyContin sales are for the 160mg tabs.. the improved "we care" image is easily worth that 1% .. besides, the pills you find on the street are the lower doses that are frequently prescribed - 160mg tabs are rarely prescribed, and definitly not to the scripters - in other words, they are only hurting the legit chronic pain people by yanking this dose..
They have been talking about re-vamping it for a few years now - if I were them I would simply let the patent expire, then come forward with the new OxyContin - it makes no sense to make something new now if they still have time left before they lose the rights to the existing form... hey, thats business, fuck the idiots who overdose, I wouldn't do a god damn thing to hurt the bottom line.. if you read the previous article they even say it:
"Abuse-resistant medications. This, according to Purdue Pharma, is its top priority. The company said it is spending millions of dollars to test and develop drugs that will be resistant to abuse but will still alleviate pain. Such a drug could be available in three years."
Yup, soon as the patent expires for their gem they will release the NEW OxyContin - why prescribe the old drug when there is a SAFER form? Good corperate plan they have, I wouldn't be surprised if they already have the new formulation finished but are sitting on it..
As for how they could hack it out and make it not-fun; look at Knoll's efforts to make Dilaudid-CR - they went with the same formulation that Kadian has had for years - these little caps full of plastic beads.. they don't disolve, and if you smash them they turn into little rubber discs - so the only way to get the drug in yer system is to eat the cap... PhreeX Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: PPI) got some of the "DillyContin" caps.. we spent several nights working with it, and the better part of that time was spent simply chasing the little beads around..
Idiot fucking people deserve to die from abuse of this drug... Darwinism in action.. thank god it will still be around long enough to thin out the population a little more..

well i dunno bout the 160mg ones. but the 20mg are POWERFUL!!! i did 3 lines of that one last nite and was FUCKED UP. i almost OD'd and wound up puking and feeling sick after i did k with it later on that nite. no more oxy's for me

I wonder how many pharmacies keep 160mg oxy's in stock. Because there have been a number of break-ins regarding that drug and the 160's would obviously be the most desirable. But still, even the few that make it onto the street probably aren't that highly in demand because they cost so much and would be hard to dose for someone without a tolerance (like me

) I mean really, if you have enough money for an 80mg who would wait until they could afford the bigger one? Seriously though, the people who OD are the ones who know nothing about it, buy a 40 or an 80, snort the whole thing, and die.

There seems to be an overdose on oxycontin at least once a month in my area. I think in most cases a large amount of alcohol was also invovled.

A lot of these losers are injecting the things too...
I bought some of the 160mg pills for no reason other then that I HAD to have them - they are the most incredible blue color.. but yeah, even I had to chop it into about 5 pieces before it was ready to consume - in our area $60 for a single pill was a DAMN good deal!
RIP little blue Oxy's.. it's not your fault you didn't get a fair chance in this cruel world.. you tried, but we failed you!

thats what i wanna know, how are most people OD'ing??im taking it that most are consuming ALCOHOL/OTHER SEDATIVES,DOWNERS and then popping some OXY,then dropping dead..yep,i could give 2 shits about these people as well..they deserve what comes to them for being so fucking stupid and giving a GREAT drug a BAD name..these are the same people that gave GHB,ROIDS a bad name...these types of people will always be around, and thats unfortunate..
i still hear about cases where people have to take 400-500 mg/day JUST TO MAKE IT THRU THE DAY!!this almost stuns me,as i weigh around 230 pds,and 40 mg does my body good for a full day..guess i have no tolerance..
i cant imagine having a jar of those 160 mg tabs..i would be in heaven...i wonder what the average street price is for them??i would guess around $100-150...YIKES!!!

the DEA is what is FORCING the company to halt its use..not directly, but indirectly i would think...they are now keeping close tabs on all the PHARMS,DOC's prescribing these drugs..

PhreeX is correct...and so am I. Most of these cases the dead person was very drunk and slamming the pills.
i still hear about cases where people have to take 400-500 mg/day
Tolerance builds up quickly. My habit would probably be considered to be pretty bad (ex-habit that is) but I know many who are far worse than I ever was. A good friend of mine slams 3 80's per day just for maintenance. Mind you, he gets no high from this at all. This is the dose that chases away the sickness and nothing more.

My uncle is a electrican and he is currently werkin at some pharmachutical company around where I live. He was tellin me how the DEA goes in there and puts in strict security systems since people have been trin to break in and steal Oxy and other pharms. He was tellin me that they have to be careful about the people that werk there too cuz things tend to disapear. Pretty interestin to hear about this type of thing.peace

The DEA is not pressuring them to stop with the 160mg's - like I said, it's a PR thing, it makes people look at them as the caring pharmacutical company.. the 160mg tabs make up the smallest part of the illicit market, so if they wanted to stop abuse they would have to nix the entire line of them.. Purdue has followed the rules - they passed FDA trials, and they stick to all the rules when it comes to distributing them, the fact that junkies like them isn't the fault of the maker..
As for how people die - same as with heroin, they either stop breathing or they pass out and choke on their vomit.. junkies die all the time, it's justthe Oxy that makes the headlines.. the increase in Oxy deaths is probably because of all the attention they are getting - ignorant fuckers hear about the new pill and figure that a pharmacutical pill couldn't kill you... good riddance! Something else the media fucks up...

Its all for publicity, not the "problem". Phreex explained it best, most of the people with scripts for 160s actually need them, apparently they dont care about addcits after all? i would think now well see even more 80mg tabs, which are probably the most abused anyway, i like these people, even though theyre faceless fucks.
Also the fact the dumbasses who take the whole pill with no tollerance end up dead is a good thing, natural selection rules
smile.gif

maybe the media will one day report on something like "we have breaking news to tell you about tonight, after months of stories, rumors, and media attention, the growing number of dumbasses in this country has today caused officials in 3 states to arrest a total of 470 teachers and educators, and 300 parents, all suspected of contributing to the stupidity of a minor. In a related story 400 or so ignorant people were jailed wednesday, in an effort to keep stupidity off our streets and away from your children, heres tom with the weather........"

I have never belonged wholeheartedly to country or State, to my circle of friends or even to my own family...
Such isolation is sometimes bitter, but I do not regret being cut off from the understanding and sympathy of other men.
I lose something by it,to be sure, but I am compensated for it in being rendered independent of the customs,
opinions and prejudices of others, and am not tempted to rest my peace of mind upon such shifting foundations.

I used to work at a place called Mermtec MedCo. This was the place most meds were shipped to and then distributed to doctors and pharmacies. There was the rooms that all the medications were stored, and there was a few rooms, one for antibiotics and shit like that, and a couple other rooms that the less desirable meds were kept in, then....there was the Narcotics storage room, which they kept all your various opiate drugs, and benzos in. OMG you would not believe how high the security there was. By the door, there were guards who made you sign in and out, and if you took anything out they would check the package and write down exactly how much you left with (they also gave you a pat down before you left the room). There was also a finger print scanner that you had to place your hand on before the doors would even open.
I was never allowed in the room, but I had seen pharmacist enter the room plenty of times. I couldn't even imagine how many cameras were in the room, being that there were five cameras in the hallway leading to the room.. Just goes to show that these assholes are definatly not playing around anymore.
One day our fun with these wonderful meds may come to an end I just hope I'm dead before this happens.
