So I feel like stocking up on some awesome RC stims before they get banned.

I was curious what the shelf life of Amphetamines (mainly 4-FA) , Cathinones and other related stimulants would be? How to properly store. I have seen the big and dandy storage thread and if this is a repeat of a thread, please moderators close up this thread and delete.

Certain amphetamines are hydroscopic, so you'll want to store them in a cool, dark, air-tight container. See the above megathread for more specific information on 4-FA.

most RC methamphetamines will get all sticky and wet, as well as ethylphenidate and cocaethylene, if that's still available

Amphetamines should be fine for long-term storage in almost any conditions, although their salts are usually hygroscopic (draws water from the air). If they get a bit damp you should be able to just pop them in a drying oven and pull the water out. They're pretty rock solid compounds. Shulgin's still got samples of the original phenethylamines (1 carbon atom less) he's synthed and I bet they are still all >90% pure.

Cathinones have a polar keto group that likes to change to an alcohol under reducing conditions, degrading them to the corresponding ephedrine (read: makes the experience much harsher). It should not be a major problem if they are kept in a dry, dark, cool place. The N-dialkylated carthinones (MDPV, MDPPP) seem to break down less easy then the "less alkylated" ones. (Disclaimer: I haven't done much serious research on the subject)

Ethylphenidate should be stored dry, cool, and dark too because the ethyl ester group is subject to breakdown forming ethanol and ritalinic acid (heh, wonder what that's named for).

In practice as long as you're not storing the compounds as solution or keeping them inside a hot car or something they should all retain potency and remain unchanged for >5 years.

i don't think they will lose potency. a couple years ago i found an old bottle of ritalin from 2nd grade, so old that the pills had absorbed moisture from the air and expanded to like 3x their original size. they were 100% potent.

Ew, really?

I once had methylphenidate prescribed to my grandfather in the military, they were like 30-40 years old, I don't remember right now my memory is a bit fuzzy but they were equal in potency to ritalin from this decade haha. the prescription bottle was like a super hard, reinforced glass, like maybe some kind of Pyrex. Coolest prescription bottle I'd ever seen.

sorry but does this apply to 4-fa as well? Thanks.

Essentially what this all points to is store your drugs in a cool, dark, dry place. Some drugs can be frozen (blotters are often kept in freezers) but unless you're intending to sit on them for decades, find a room/closet/shed or make a container that fits the bill.

Could also throw some silica gel in there with it, although I'm not sure if there may be complications, as silica gel is poisonous. Should be in a porous bag.
