I have had chocolates that contain psilocybin for almost six months now, I keep them in the fridge. I am wondering a few things about the extended storage of psilocybe. There is no funky odor or mold that I can see on it. Sometimes there is moisture buildup though.

Can it be frozen and retain potency?

How perishable is it over time?

Does it lose potency over time and if so how much?

I am very new to psilocybin and couldn't really figure out on my own how perishable it is with the pharmacological and botany data I looked at. I am also not sure if the mushrooms were dehydrated or not before being put in the chocolates. Sorry if these questions seem overly obtuse and/or I missed a relevant thread on the matter to post in. I know very little about fungi lol.

There are better qualified people to answer, but I'm pretty sure you need to keep psilocybin in a freezer if you're going to store them for more than a few days. :( Sorry. The chocolate might be fine but I wouldn't count on it still being potent.

Hmm thanks. It's not too much of a loss if its now inert as I only have 3-4 hits. I may stick to psilocin analogues like 4-Aco-DMT in the future since synthetics would last far longer.

Anyway I'll know for sure next week in regards to the potency when I dose a couple hits. It was already pretty weak to begin with. No visuals just a "buzz" and profound feelings evoked by memories being conjured up (which in itself was still a worthy experience despite no OEVs or CEVs) but it was definitely shrooms because reputable persons vouched for it (including people I personally know).

Mostly I just want to know for future reference in case I get more.

I have stored my P.cube infused chocolate for upwards of several months with absolutely no deterioration. It is critical to keep broken down mushrooms (powdered psyclobin/cin) in the freezer or minimize the oxidation rate of the active alkaloids. The dark also helps.

I have heard from trusted sources that potency can be maintained for years in this fashion. And personal experience would agree.

i cant say anything about mushroom cholocate as i have no exp with it, however, dry mushies kept in a cool dark place can last for quite a while, but will gradually lose potency (depending on heat and air exposure) - so,iirc, after about 1 year it should be maybe 30% less. maybe less maybe more.

i think mushrooms in chocolate are dried first

I was actually wondering the same thing, I had one lying around for a few months but can't remember what happened to it. I was thinking of posting something along these lines in case I found. I was just a bit worried as I didn't know if it went "bad," if that was possible.
