It’s almost midnight
its spring now - almost summer
the days have grown longer
and my passion for life still lingers
past my open windows
and the cigarettes I smoke on my balcony
exhaling and watching the smoke curl
and blow away like the lives I’ve left

the pleasures of being innocent
didn’t even leave me that long ago
I can count each moment
on the fingertips I’ve had since I was born
I even remember the exact moment
where booze and pills and sex took over
the little girl - blue eyes and pale face
swirled - mixed with blood - down my drain
she couldn’t help it
she just had to get away

Something sweet and nostalgic in this really piques me

the days have grown longer
and my passion for life still lingers
past my open windows
and the cigarettes I smoke on my balcony

This imagery and the repetition of sound give a wonderful feeling.
And I think that regardless of who we are, everyone can identify at least a little with what you are saying.
