my old neighbour had one of these and i recall almost crying the first time i stepped on it. it hurt like hell, but afterwards i felt great and used it several more times before moving away. anyway, bought one from ebay and it arrived today.

yes, the first minute or so is pretty intense pain. it doesn't last.

really? no one??

i've been standing and lying on this thing every night. haven't had back/neck tension since starting.

check out the link in my OP for various uses. i had previously only ever stood on my friend's and as much as they hurt like hell (they really do at first), i felt exhilerated afterwards. i have no back problems per se, but have stress tension not uncommonly. since buying this, my back has been all chilled out and relaxed. :)

i'm finding for my feet, if i had strenuous walking that day, it feels amazing, and i can even stomp my feet (gently) about on it, but when i'm been on my arse all day, i can't move on the thing cuz it feels like knives.

i was scared to lie on my back at first, but now having done my back daily, i am thinking i might do my front sometime soon too. *whimper*

edit: my wife won't touch it. my infant backs away from it and cried "tata (daddy in cro), stop, hurts" when he saw me on it. and my cats will back off if they try to rub on me and accidently step on it. =D

Alternatively, you could lie down on a pile of LEGOs. I imagine the sensation would be quite similar and you could make awesome spaceships at the same time.

^trip report pls ;)

haha, that post made me say "ouch"

with daily use, along with my massive increase in walking/running, my feet have toughened up substantially. when i stand on this i hardly feel it any more :( it's still good, just not as painful as before, so less of a rush. i can stomp pretty hard now.

feels great on the back. i've done my front (very carefully) a couple of times too.

I'm so curious to try this. It could seriously help me. This might be a lame question, but are these mats made of plastic? I'm trying to avoid/eliminate plastic in my life as much as much as possible. Maybe they make metal ones?

L2R, if you're not getting as much of a rush as you once did, maybe you should move on to hot coals. :D (Joking, but I've always wondered why people walk on hot coals, and I imagine the theory is the same?)

yeah these are a hard plastic stitched to some padded fabric. i've never seen metal ones.

they work more like pressure points and a massage, so i doubt hot coals would be desirable ;)
