Shadows of the Day,
by Rewired,

Do you still feel that value in the past?
That desire to walk over our old footprints, make our
mark in the fresh dirt so the imprint lasts?

The dream is ending, I can hear the alarm.
Quick, grab my hand before our
dissipating faerie tale finally buys the farm.
I can see it dying -- does it really have to end?
Or have we already left it far behind?

I'm trailing you...
Can we at least make amends?

Or is it just in incubation?
Or do we wait for it all to digest?
Or will it lie six feet under in the
graveyard of the forgotten?
Is that the putrid stench I smell, the one
that chokes me -- the rotting corpses
of the decaying hopes and dreams?

You say that it's all over, but
you always say things aren't
what they seem.

Either way, I'm lost today in a cafe in the
middle of Anhedonia and I'm so sad
I don't know what to say.
In the eve that's now passed
emotions from the heart
flourished so openly, why
must they hide now in the
shadows of the day?

In the dark,
I'm still trailing you...

Well chosen words, spun into extremely emotive poetry. :)

I have read and re-read this piece, and I can identify so strongly with the perspective it is written from, I'm really amazed at the strength of feeling and memory it calls up.

I can't find a bit to quote, because I keep selecting more, and more, and thinking "just another line...".

To say I like this piece a lot is something of an understatement!
