A telephone salesman collapsed and died during a bizarre sex game after taking Bath Salts drugs - which has just been banned in Britain.
Paul Iles, 31, was experimenting with 'legal highs' during sex games where he wore a gas mask and wellington boots when he died.
An inquest heard a post mortem examination found Mr Iles had the drug bath salts in his blood stream.
Bath salts have been behind a string of criminal incidents in the U.S., leading to crazed behaviour by users.
The inquest in Cardiff heard the drug, also known as Sextacy, is used as a sexual stimulant and was recently made illegal in Britain.
Mr Iles had been chatting on the internet while dressed in a rubber suit, gas mask and wellington boots.
But the inquest heard Paul had taken the rubber gear off before collapsing in the kitchen of his home.
He was found naked the next morning by his partner Ian Newman.
Police investigated and traced other men who had chatted with Paul on a website on the night of his death.

They confirmed he was wearing his rubber suit and gas mask while he typed messages on the keyboard.
Mr Newman, his partner of four years, said: 'Paul had recently been experimenting with legal highs.

Mr Iles' partner Ian Newman only discovered his boyfriend's body on the kitchen floor the morning after he died
'He also sometimes took poppers through his gas mask or just sniffed it from the bottle.'
The inquest heard Paul, of Cardiff Bay, died of sudden unexplained death after taking methylenedioxypyrovalerone - the chemical name for bath salts.
Cardiff coroner Mary Hassell recorded an open verdict saying: 'The drug is new and medical knowledge is very limited.
'It could have caused his death, it could have had nothing to do with it, or it could have been a factor.
'But there is not enough evidence to say why Paul died.'
Bath salts have been blamed for a string of incidents which have prompted the user to behave erratically and violently.
The synthetic drugs - with street names like bath salts or plant food - mimic more traditional illegal narcotics like cocaine, LSD, MDMA and methamphetamine, and have rapidly grown in popularity.

New research suggests the drug affects the brain in the same way as cocaine.

The drug's active ingredient is mephedrone. Scientists have shown that mephedrone acts the same way as cocaine in the brain - giving it the potential for abuse and addiction.

This is very sad, but I am in a very silly mood, so...

he wore a gas mask and wellington boots when he died.
Wow, that is not the way I would like to go. I would definitely need a rubber suit in addition to the gas mask and wellies.

Paul had taken the rubber gear off before collapsing
Too bad. He could have achieved real fame and coolness.

the drug, also known as Sextacy
Known as Sextacy by whom? The Daily Fail?

The drug's active ingredient is mephedrone.
Is this true?
I don't believe it, unless someone with more knowledge confirms it.
I have tried meph - just once - and found it to be lovely. I hope it is not the culprit!

Daily Fail!

I swear these guys have a Mad Libs-style sheet for making drug stories up.

A [locality] teenager was found dead wearing [costume piece] and tatooed with a [farm animal]. Experts suspect a new designer drug called [household cleaning product] is responsible. It can be easily purchased at [type of store] for as little as [number] dollars. The active ingredient has similar effects to [hard drug] and can lead to addiction in as little as [number] uses.

Damn, you're right!
It's just a game of Mad Libs!

The cathinones were never even disguised as 'bath salts' in Britain. Every vendor that stocked these drugs did so under the 'plant food' guise. And 'just been banned'? They got banned years ago.

The daily mail is only interested in this because of the fetishistic element...They did fuck all research on the drugs.

Pharmacologically, bath salts usually contain a cathinone, typically methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV), methylone or mephedrone; however, the chemical composition varies widely[4][9] and products labeled with the same name may also contain derivatives of pyrovalerone or pipradrol. In Europe the main synthetic cathinone is mephedrone, whereas in the US MDPV is more common.[4]

wiki...

Yeah i thought it was sometimes mephedrone, or mdpv or any other stuff as mentioned and probably loads more not mentioned. It's a broad term 'bath salts' afaik.

Mods -

Is this anything to worry about? Seems kinda odd-

It's pretty much guaranteed that this man never bought the MDPV(?) as 'bath salts', ever.
