perhaps the 5htp did not cause the SS, but whatever you took which was labelled "molly" or "MDMA" probably had multiple substances other than MDMA such as caffeine, cocaine, meth, MDPV, mephedrone, ect... the list goes on and on.
dealers find a cheap cutting material that the user is not able to distinguish between the substance used and the cut, such as adding cocaine to MDMA. your MDMA could have not been MDMA at all, but it could have been a handful of drugs that when combined, causes SS.
however, speculation is speculation and there is no way to tell for sure what caused you to experience these awful symptoms. definintely do NOT buy from the dealer you bought the MDMA from ever again!! as how i see it, the cuts in your supposed "MDMA" interacted between each other and/or the MDMA to cause SS.
i'd be more careful if i were you, always do a test bump or shot or whatever to get a taste for how strong your product is. this practice should be done with ALL street drugs (heroin, coke, MDMA, meth, ect..). after the little test, THEN and ONLY THEN should you take a full dosage.
you could have avoided a week or two in hell by doing a test-run with your "MDMA" before taking the whole batch. if i am right, you probably would have experienced a negative reaction but on a much lesser scale! do i think taking 5htp helped? no i dont, i definitely think the 5htp played a role, but something seems a little fishy beneath the surface, things arent always what they appear to be!

I don't really see what the debate is. MDMA+5-HTP=SS. Not always, but that is probably what happened.
