I recently switched from thorazine to seroquel. I find that seroquel feels much more natural. I find that it gets you somewhat high. It feels like cannabis or a mild benzo. Its great for anxiety. Anyone else like seroquel?

My wife takes giant doses daily. Being the second-rate scientist I am, I decided to get experimenty one evening. I scraped about 40-50mg off one of my wife's pills, swallowed it, and went to sleep. The next morning I woke up feeling awful -- brain dead, foggy, and irritable. The irritability thing was a new one -- only very very rarely do I become irritable, regardless the internal or external circumstances.

It's definitely not something I'd like to repeat -- don't have the genes for it apparently -- but for some people, Seroquel is phenomenal at replacing dysfunction with function.

I have a prescription for quetiapine and for dexedrine ER. I sure wouldn't want to have the latter with out the former is all I can say. Quetiapine is awesome for comedowns from amphetamines and really cancels out the effects when you wanna just go to sleep. I sometimes also take it as a sleeping pill just to pass out. I take just 50mg for any use. You gain a tolerance though so you can't take it everyday or it won't work as a sedative. But some people need that tolerance since they actually take it for anti-psychotic purposes and take it round the clock.

It causes anhedonia and dysphoria. It's action in the brain is the exact polar opposite of euphoric stimulants. Do you work for the pharmaceutical industry? This brutal poison is used to chemically lobotomize the criminally insane...

Pharma-funded troll or lummox who has never experienced euphoria in his life.

^I have heard people who have done hard drugs like meth and morphine say that Seroquel is euphoric. So I don't think its a troll.

Give it some time OP and you might hate Seroquel. I refuse to take any psych meds other than benzos because I've had bad experiences with them. On the other hand Seroquel has changed my best friend's life quite a bit for the better. So if it works for you good but that "high" that you might be getting will go away. I did think it potentiated certain drugs such as Neurontin, Valium, Tramadol and a few others...

I really do not like seroquel. It can cause people significant weight gain when taken habitually.

I find all seroquel does is make you sluggish and sleepy. Its not really something I would like.

I suppose if I was incarcerated I would get on it. Jail and prison can be rather boring and you go rather stir crazy.

I would still try to make sure to work out as much as possible because that shit will make you very fucking fat.

Ok just finished an outpatient suboxone taper plan. On day one no subs. Anyways while there they give seroquell or trazadone to help you sleep. Hell ya I said seroquell please. Because it's a horse pill. You are knocked the efff out. Trazadone is like an aspirin to me.

So at the end (yesterday) the last visit with the DR, I ask for more. He went on to explain this drug to me. He said and I quote " Seroquell is a horrible drug"! He said some things like raising all sorts of levels in the body and causing diabetes and yata yata yata. He said It's great for shot term, but long term sucks. Quoting the Dr again""Unless you are schizophrenic and have tendencies to hurt yourself or others, the benefits do not out weigh the risks".

Just saw the thread and since I had that knowledge I thought I'd pass it on. Remember a DR told me the exact words in the quotes.

Scared the crap outta me. I knew they were going to pull it from me so I told the nurse on the previous visit that 50 mg wasn't doing it anymore and I need 100mg for the next week. So I stocked up with about a couple weeks worth for me.

Shit now I have to use xanax to sleep. Glad I haven't touched them in a while.

Also if you take too much you will have a long hangover the next day from it. too much for me was the 50mg. I had to cut them in half.

This. I knew a girl who was on it and it has to be the creepiest drug I've ever seen. She would talk normally and everything about her facial expressions and body language (but not tone, or content of what she was saying) would make it look like she was desperately mourning something or about to burst into tears or both but she just felt 'dead'. It was extremely unnerving, especially when I was on LSD around her, I would be in tears just having a normal conversation with her and she would just be confused as to why I would get upset. It's as if it completely arrests emotional reactions after those reactions are shown in the face but before they are registered consciously.

I take 300-400mg's of seroquel a day as part of my psych med cocktail to control the bipolar disorder i have. I have done alot of criminal shit and the state of my sanity would depend on your definition of insanity :\ . But i am not criminally insane nor is seroquel brain poison. It is simply a atypical anti-psychotic that works fairly well for it's intended purposes.

Its all the girls take at LA County. They sleep all damn day, and when they call for psych meds EVERYONE in the mod lines up. I asked my bunkie why the hell all these girls are on psych meds, and she told me theyre not, the seroquel gets dosed w psych meds and the girls just use it to sleep all day to pass the time. Obviously theres nothing else to do, and la county for women is so crowded girls are sleeping on roll out mats in the middle of the unit, not in cells. Luckily i had a cell, its so much more comforting and homey to be in a cell than a mat on the floor.

So i put in a request to see the psych and got on seroquel. Really helped time fly. Up in Alaska they never gave us meds, so it was different to see everyone zoned out.

They recommend against using it in children because it reduces your ability to learn at school. It is a blunt instrument that controls behaviour by making your muscle tone decrease, which is how it leads to weight gain and diabetes. It controls unwanted thoughts by making you think less and reducing intelligence by lowering neurotransmitters used in cognition. This is all done in a crude, across the board way. It's meant to be last resort but is marketed as a cure-all. Also atypicals have be shown to be no more effective than the typicals in treating psychosis and have similar severity in terms of their side effects. It works for bipolar because if you are sluggish and dumb all the time no one will call you "manic".

Lol I used to know a bunch of people in HS that would snort and sell these to get fucked up. All they did was put everyone to sleep, never knew why people bought these when there were real drugs goin around. Also when I was locked up I remember people would trade their meals for seroquel :/. Apparently they would throw em in their mouth and pretend to take em only to spit em out and trade em, fuckin disgusting if you ask me.

I use this to fall asleep after amphetamines.

There is no fighting it, i've been an insomniac for years, nothing helps but this will stonecold knock you out.

shits bad

It completely dulls a person, in every sort of way.

SSRI's, SNRI's and i believe most tricyclics and MAOI's are also not recommended for anyone under 18. Doesn't mean it's poison though. Seroquel has not decreased my ability to learn, nor has my muscle tone decreased, nor have i gained weight nor have i developed diabetes. It doesn't make you think less either it just acts as a antagonist at certain serotonin and dopamine receptors hence it's anti-psychotic effects. The severe drowsiness caused by seroquel is due to it's H1 antagonism and also it's anti-Adrenic effects. When you get into the higher doses as in 200mg's+ a day then it starts to antagonize certain serotonin subreceptors and if you get to a high enough dose dopamine receptors too mostly D2.

The trials you are talking about to see if seroquel, zyprexa and i believe risperdal worked better then typicals are kinda iffy. I think zyprexa was the most tolerable of the lot. Atypicals tend to work better on the negative symptoms or atleast i believe seroquel and a few others do. I have had the typical anti-psychotics Thorazine and methotrimeprazine. Thorazine was actually quite tolerable even at 100mg's and it sure stopped my puking rather well. I didn't even find it as sedating as seroquel. Methotrimeprazine is a rather week anti-psychotic but due to it's rather potent anti-histamine and anti-cholinergic effects it's so sedating it makes both seroquel and Thorazine look like Amphetamines by comparison.

Once i got used to seroquel i noticed no dulling effect and in fact it stopped my brain from overreving so that i could fucking think. Zyprexa works much better for me but i can't afford the shit. I'll take the risks of seroquel any fucking day over existing in a manic depressive hell.

This whole "Seroquel is a poison" thing that I hear everywhere is just because people take it who don't need it. Doctors hand this out to everybody for things like insomnia. If your just taking Seroquel to come down from an amp high or sleep you may not need more than 12.5mg or so. It's very strong and most people just take too much and then think Seroquel is the problem.

I took Seroquel a few months. It helped for a little while and then it stopped helping and I stopped taking it. The only time it felt like a poison was when I was on a very high dose (600 mg) and taking lithium, neurontin, remeron, a bunch of shit.
