who else feels droggy weak and fatigued the next day? anyone? does it ever go away?

i'll take 50-100mgs to get a solid nights sleep. if i take too much i can't get out of bed. once you do get out of bed it's hard to shake off. you feel like your head is made of cement.

My pysch doc prescribed it to me for sleep and I felt exactly that way the next day. At my next appt I informed her and she prescribed Ambien IR. Works like a charm, no ill effects the next morning. I only take it when I absolutely cannot sleep, however.

If you're taking it daily then the "morning after" effect should pass after a few weeks. If that doesn't happen, you might find that the XR version works better for you. You might even need a lower dose as the sedative effect comes from it acting as an antihistamine at low doses.

The effect that you should be getting is being able to fall asleep when you're tired not getting knocked out regardless of when you take it.

If your insomnia is an ongoing problem then it would be worthwhile getting a sleep study done to see exactly what's happening.

Ive taken it for bipolar disorder in doses as high as 400mg's a day and i find that the next day drowsiness goes away pretty quick. Within even a few days i won't feel like it takes me a few hours and about 3 cups of coffee to wake up every morning and after a few weeks the next day drowsiness is pretty much gone.

It varies for everyone though. If it does not go away and is not worth the side effects id say try something else for sleep.
