Is it true that seroquel also alleviates anxiety symptoms?

Just wondering, cuz I know that it's a knockout drop of sorts, and I'm bored with benzos atm.

Once it kicks in you'll be asleep or you won't wanna be awake any more.

Never found it to help with anxiety in the days following.

Ahh I've heard nothing about this?

Really cant see how it would, being a dopamine and seretonin antagonist it wouldnt really achieve any effects of this sort, more so counting the effects of stims/psyches and general sedation and mood stabilisation.

I take it somewhat reguarily for sleeping always 25mg which does the job perfectly, and notice that the next morning I seem to a quite level headed and not my usual up-down moody self which I do quite like about it.
 
I used to be prescribed 100mg which I found too strong. Would knock me out for about 14 hours and I would spend the next day feeling like a zombie dropping in and out of sleep. Seroquals are great when you desperately want to be asleep. Great for when your coming down off ice or LSD. As far as if it's good for anxiety I guess it is and it isn't. You feel way to wrecked to be anxiuos but then again you feel way to tired and weak which is a feeling I hate.
 
^ Yes, this feeling of being tired and weak after waking up sucked with seroquel. I think there was a different thread yesterday we talked about this effect. 100 mg was a bit much so I split them in half and still go through the next day yawning and stretching. I can't say if it alleviated anxiety because I was so knocked out and groggy from seroquel. Plus it made my heart race and I would feel my leg muscles jerk a lot while falling asleep. I would take benzos anyday over this drug. ~theresa

Yeah that's pretty much it, it only alleviates anxiety coz you are just too tired and groggy to worry about anything except more sleep. If you wanna take non-recreational meds to feel good, then I mean, my first few doses of lexapro made me feel super happy and optimistic yet relaxed like I had swallowed an eccie or something, but that's not really harm reduction, chances are you're prescribed it anyway lol, current DOC for docs it seems to cover any mental condition (along with seroquel?)
 
Personally, and I'm sure others would agree, Seroquel (Quetiapine) has no recreational value.

It does what it does, and does it well. A good anti-psychotic - which is what it defined as! But obviously with an off-label use as a sleeping aid.

As far as an anxiolytic, I personally haven't heard of it but agree with what others have said. :)
 
They are 2 different things. Seroquels have no recreational value whatsoever. Its awesome if u go out on a binge need sum sleep or to knock u out or to end a trip. I use benzos on a daily basis, used to use them for recreation but it has lost its magic :S I use it for all sorts of different reasons includin anxiety or after ive had alot of bodybuilding supplements to keep me calm n get rid of the jitteryness. Wasnt there a thread about this not long ago?? Benzos by itself i wouldnt even call recreational unless u have a very small tolerance and pop say 2mg alprazolam for ur first few times.
 
Yea great knockout pill, but it fucked with me terribly to the point where i threw it in the bin after 3-4 days on it, no rec value, dosent agree with some, i experienced memory loss and suicidal ideoligy (thank god ive a little 1 and could never leave her alone) so yarrr proceed with caution, i may still fill a script of it but for the times when u just gotta sleep. Did not work for me on a daily basis, others could be different, but from what ive heard i'd steer clear
Anti psycotics aint nothin ta fuck with.
Zyprexa is far better if u gotta go there IMO

Also Seroquel did nothing for anxiety exept make it worse

Thinking of trying it for sleep. 25mg seems to be the average dose for sleep, were you taking higher dose?
 
Seroquel is an anti psychotic and can be pretty effective for the kind of anxiety that can stem from psychosis, paranoia for example. And like everyone else mentioned, it also helps kill anxiety as a side effect of completely zonking you out :\
 
Yar but how about when you wake up?? i found it terible but cant argue with the fact it relieves anxiety now due to the knockout effect, mind you i had 50mg one night and was awake @ like 4 am feelin terribly shakey.
 
well i get 90 200 mg seroqels a month for sleep along with my temazepams and im one of those ones that cant sleep chronic insomniac so even takeing 800 mg and 60mg of temazepams doesnt even work at times
Also want to add that my shrink who i guess is wrong gives me an extra 120 25 mg seroquels that she sais does help anxiety at low doses.
Also want to point out that even though i take high doses of seroquel its said that lower doses such as 100mg are better for sleep,at the lower dose yer supposed to get tired quiker.
This is all from my shrink..
But i have 8 mg of clonazepams for my anxiety so i dont even use the 120 bottles i just collect them...
 
It makes me feel shit when I wake up and usually at least that whole day, even on really low doses. Just groggy, dysphoric and dull. It's why I avoid taking even low doses (I always take 25mg at the absolute max to sleep, usually just nibble a tiny bit off a pill) unless it's absolutely necessary. Plus it blocks the effects of meth, and we can't have that, can we :\
 
Any one used it to try kill any other psychs but LSD?

Did not kill DOI for me even with 100mg and then another 100mg, I just got all the bad side effects with the horrible trip.
 
^ IMO not really good 4 that sort of thing.....
if ur freakin out on a haluconigan,, ,couple mgs of xanax should sort shit out plus some vitamin C (im told) could be a old wifes tale, but i wouldnt b fuckin with anti psycs in that situation without proper medical supervision eg if uv totaly flipped ur lid:\
