Seroquel

don't become a shuffling zombie

I have heard of this anti psychotic being used recreationally, and have done some with weird effects in the past, but that was in combination with copious amounts of both weed and mephedrone, so I dont know which substance caused which effects.

Why is seroquel taken recreationally, what does it generally do, other than help you to sleep after a high night, as I had it? Is it commonly used?

Sorry but I don't have access to my journals right now. I would explain further otherwise but basically it antagonizes (blocks-sort of) dopamine, norepinephrine, alpha-adrenergic, histamine and serotonin receptors.

It's sedating effect may be due to activity that antagonizes histamine receptor H1.

It is known to cause tardive dyskinesia, diabetes, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome.

It also contains a virus that creates zombies:p

Yeah, the only time I have ever heard of seroquel being abused was when I was locked up. I took it sometimes to help me sleep.

People will take any kind of drugs they can get their hands on in jail, tho.

Yeah.. When you get locked up they dope you up with seroquel. Someone I know was baker acted and had to go to a behavioral institute. They just gave him alot of seroquel and valium the whole time he was there..

seroquel/antipsychotics scare me.....even on a crash i wont take that shit, i don't like its mechanism on the brain!!, just reading the name bugs me ! lol. Hate the feeling of seroquel coming. and to think some people use it recreationally....theres even some that believe it cool! , wth...

agreed...it's so overly RXed in rehabs and other facilities too most likely due to the fact that it doesnt have a generic and is expensive...

Terrible hangover too...i'd rather not sleep...seroquel is a drug for serial killers..not recovering addicts

I was prescribed this to sleep, and it works almost too well. Whenever I take it, I wouldn't feel the effects wear off until halfway through the next day. I had to stop taking it because of the constant groggy feel I had.

I was prescribed Seroquel briefly for depression and anxiety. It made me feel like a zombie and I lost all ability to focus on any type of intellectual work. It did NOT produce any sort of euphoria or feeling of well-being. I asked to go off it after only a month.

In short, people who use Seroquel for "recreational" purposes do not understand that it's an ANTI-psychotic and they are clueless in thinking that ANY prescription drugs will make you high.

I can't understand how anybody could find the effects of Seroquel enjoyable unless you are suffering mental illness and it helps to relieve your racing mind and psychotic thinking.

LOL. Each to his own. I don't know who your doc is, but he's a retard. You where using it for "off-label" purposes. Schizophrenia is the main reason for using this drug, as it helps with anxiety "asosiated" with schizophrenia. Anyways, it works for me. I don't use it as directed and don't wan't a huge tolerence to it as the dosage can get rather huge. 800mg etc. 100mg for the recreational user would be good for "DREAMING". Yes it can make dreams really cool if you're into lucid dreaming. And many get this effect from it. But it will knock you on your ass due to the low blood presure caused by the drug, so take it right before bed, so you don't "drop" like i have....many times ;). Hope this helps. But again ^^^^^ LOL. I spose i don't understand and are clueless. Again, great for sleep tripping as i named it. Peace.

Actually Seroquel XR is being pushed really hard now for use in treatment of depression. I really can't imagine why, but it is.
