Okay guys well I take seroquel 50mgs 3 times a day every day and I feel like it might be making me depressed since its a dopamine antagonist so I tried to not take it all day today until tonight and I was going to take all 3 of them at once to put me to sleep but I just couldn't do it because I was feeling too depressed today so I caved and took it during the daytime.

My question is could I have been feeling depressed today because I'm used to taking it everyday or do you guys think it really is helping me with my depression? Any help is greatly appreciated guys I've been so depressed lately.

serequel is an anti-psychotic. it can help with some of the symptoms of major depression (anxiety, psychosis, insomnia, etc.), but it isn't an anti-depressant. Have you discussed your situation with your prescribing doc? Usually serequel is not a first-line drug choice for help with the core of depressive symptomology. Do you have an official diagnosis? That might help make sense of your pharmacological routine. If I were you, I wouldn't be messing around with my prescribed dosages, and instead making sure that your doc knows exactly what is going on with you.

If you have any more psych queries, feel free to PM me - - I've been through all of it...

edit - just reread: only you can evaluate the efficacy of your medication... but in general, taking triple the prescribed dose of anything is not going to help.

Thank you very much Defanged and yea I was originally prescribed seroquel because I used to be paranoid but I think it was a hormone phase or something because I don't feel paranoid at all anymore. And I definetely will message you if I have any questions thanks!

No problem, ADHD (btw, I can't believe that name wasn't taken, like, a million years ago...)

Any questions, just ask. I've taken pretty much everything out there over the years (dx bipolar), and I've been in enough psy hospitals to have observed just about everything mental illness can do...
