seroqel

Bro, 400mg is an irresponsible dose for anyone to be prescribed by any physician. As far as your question about compatibility with dextromethorphan, I don't recommend it. It's not really safe to mix anything at all with antipsychotic medication. Also, if it was bipolar for which you were prescribed your medication, it's probably an overkill. Just a though. I'll let you know though, just to clarify myself, I was previously on that medication myself at a dose of 700mg a day (200 in the morning, 200 in the afternoon, 300 in the evening). I am definintely happier having stopped that medication (gradually) and switching it for heroin. Just a thought.

400mg an irresponsible dose for any physician to prescribe? You just said that you were prescribed 700mg. 8)

Suggesting ANYONE (especially someone with bipolar) to switch from their meds to heroin is irresponsible & just straight wrong. I know you didn't directly say that but...are you serious about your comment? Being happier on Heroin? If so, how long have you been on it? You may not have been on it long enough to start experiencing the dark side in which some never turn back except to Methadone maintenance, jail or with long term fried endorphin receptors. You'll sooner or later wish that you stuck with your Seroquel.

Allright bro lighten up. I WAS on 700mg. I came off the medication because it affected my ability to function. I unfortunately did end up on herion, but that was meant to be a quip, not a suggestion. You are right, though. I should be more careful how I word things, as sarcasm is difficult to express in text. Heroin has been horrible. I've been a career junkie for fourteen years now and will never endorse it. I was on methadone (finally reaching the ungodly dose of 180mg) from 2/05-6/06, and the methadone in my opinion was even worse. I tried subutex, same deal. I've even done the noloxone detoxes (terrible). I have two felonies on my record, and am probably going to prison next year over a fine I have no way of paying. All because of herion. So yeah, sorry about the miswording, but the last bit was meant to be sarcastic. As far as seroquel, I find it equally dangerous. It can be an incredibly useful medication for the people who really need it, but it is also one of the most overpresctibed medications on the market, next to prozac and ritalin. Yes, I have research to back that up. Also, I have a grave mistrust of anyone who proports a medication but can't explain its mode of action. I have facts to back that up too. They don't even know how it works. This new class of antipsychotic medication is still considered experimental, although it has been around for quite a while. The newest is Gabapentin. You want to read something scary, go find an intelligent analysis of that. I recommend to anyone who may not need Seroquel (which was never origionally intended for bipolar. It was intended for manic schitzophrenics) to come off it, but like I said, GRADUALLY. Do it through a doctor. I also stand by my statement that it is dangerous to mix ANYTHING (even alcohol) with antipsychotic meds. That was really the point, which was apparently missed.

for me the only thing seroquel is good for is knocking me out after meth binges. this stuff is one of the strongest sedatives i've tried, and doesn't feel good if you stay up on it(if you can).

Sarcasm...ohhhh. Whoops I must have forgot what that was. I getcha now. Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry if I sounded like an ass. My bad.

Seroquel isnt a great medication, not many antipsychotics are though. Personally I think its only good for putting someone into a comma, but not taking everyday

I used seroquel multiple times for adderall comedown. Just to sleep. You completely let go of everything on seroquel it seems like. i was also perscribed seroquel 150MG at night to sleep...it kind aput my brain in a bit of a after daily usage.

I've never used dxm on seroquel though because i dont take it daily.

seroquel won't effect a dxm high if the dose of seroquel is at last 12 hours prior. if you're dosing both in the same time table, the seroquel will overpower the dxm and you'll go to sleep.

400mg of seroquel does seem like quite a lot. I was prescribed 100mg for schizophrenia (although have since switched meds).

400mg of seroquel does seem like quite a lot, although i don't think body weight matters.

i've known people who were on up to 800MG a day...

I said i knew people that take up to 800MG a day. 400MG a day in seperate doses.. And yes i agree, they should be on different meds. I only take seroquel as a last resort for sleep now.

I lived with this one dude who took 1000mg at night, and it barely affected him, granted he had been taking it for a while......but he still couldn't sleep sometimes even with 300mg of trazodone.

thats because trazodone in higher doses works as an SSRI lol. In low doses it works as a sedative. 300MG is a relatively high dose of trazodone.

Actually it does not have SSRI effects........It is a SARI (serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor). It is classified as a tetracyclic anti-depressant.

Still the dose for insomnia is 50-150mg, 300mg isn't going to do anything. Also, if I was one a 1000mg of seroquel and not falling asleep I'd be worried

I think if your scripted that much your Dr needs to look at different drugs/drug classes

Actually, for schizophrenia & bi-polar that is a rather common dose. Its the maximum daily dose that should be prescribed, although some people are prescribed even more. When people with bi-polar or schizophrenia take it everyday they no longer experience the sedation.

For sleep, no that isn't a dose that should be taken
