Seriously though, wtf is the point of Lean (Codeine cough syrup), any users out there

So honestly what is lean good for besides a gimmicky novelty drug?? Its so ridiculously expensive for such a small amount of codeine... codeine itself is a pretty under-whelming opiate as well ... are there any users out there on this forum that can elaborate as to what the point is ? What caused you start drinking it ? were you influenced by hip hop music ? I dont understand the hype at all.. oxys are expensive but not nearly as expensive as codeine has became to be .. :?
 
I've tried it, used it a number of times. The high is nothing to write home about. Codeine with added promethazine effects. The promethazine potentiates it but fucks up the high simultaneously.

As far as I can tell it's popularity is due to hip-hop drug ignorance declaring that opiates are not opiates if they are in syrup form. Also with current prices which are way out of line with effects (I've heard 4 digit number per pint) it's a way to flaunt wealth like throwing thousands at the strip club.
 
Lean is usually taken in excessively large amounts. Add in the promethazine and you've got a dangerous combo.
 
lean is a fad.

back when i was absorbed into the hype i would sip the care+ brand with 300mg codeine in it.

i'd literally sip the whole thing over a couple hours. a few times i got some worrying respiratory depression and finally puked it up the last time i ever 'sipped lean'.

there's far better opies out there if one is trying to get a high from codeine.

kratom, oxycodone and hydrocodone are far better but way more addictive.
 
yeah id love to know the answer to this too. I see that shit selling for so much freaking money its insane, I mean like buying a few grams of raw for the price of a sealed pint. they even make fake lean with corn syrup and god knows what.

put it in a baby bottle too lol...

I guess its bc its a fad and that's it. its a shit high plus its killed quite a few ppl, pimp c, dj screw,

my ex used to get bottles from her old dr and she wouldn't take it so id trade it for an 8th of dank, turn out I could have been selling for like 2 zips lol
 
The only reason lean is even in the limelight is because rappers have blow it way outta proportion. I understand Houston rappers like Pimp C using it as a regional tradition to catch a buzz, although Pimp C died on the shit + xanax and something else I think due to sleep apnea + respiratory depression and so did A$AP Yams (Xanax + lean). I would be pissed if my life ended due to a shitty concoction like codeine w/ promethazine. Not that both drugs don't have their place in recreational drug use, it's just not what it's made out to be. Lean is a more-than-mild opiate buzz with a sedating AH.

Since getting Hep. C from sharing needles in my past (whilst shooting IV heroin and cocaine) I am a poor metabolizer of codeine, therefore it barely converts the codeine to morphine which is a huge part of the euphorigenic/analgesic properties. This is now the case with tramadol now too, I don't really metabolize trams to O-DT which is unfortunate, because I got to enjoy the unique, blissful-serotogenic high from tramadol metabolizing into the more mu-agonist effect of O-DT only a few times. Now I just get anxious and jittery, and on-the-verge-of-a-seizure like activity from tramadol's SNRI properties, which I'm not a fan of at all. I need to try straight O-desmethyltramadol (O-DT, M1, O-DSMT). Anyhow, I digress. LEAN IS OVERRATED.

Codeine is only useful for those with little to no tolerance in most cases (some potent opioid-using individuals still enjoy high-dose codeine possibly due to their metabolism) or staving off WD in addicts. Still not particularly known as a very euphoric opiate. Might as well just go for morphine IMO. Morphine is the gold-standard of opiates/opioids. Liquid morphine or liquid oxy (OxyFast, which I've had the luck of obtaining and using at ~60-80mg in some sprite whilst in acute IV heroin WD's, brought rapid, euphoric relief)
 
Do you mean just codeine-promethazine syrup or that stuff where they mix it with soda, candy and shit? I honestly really enjoy promethazine-codeine syrup especially when I'm in a dimly lit room alone listening to some good calm music, I drink it straight instead of adding that other shit. If you're in the right setting, have little or no opiate tolerance and don't expect too much it can be a pretty damn good super mellow high. When I was younger and had a mild pain pill habit I'd carry a flask full of it around to sip on and keep the withdrawal symptoms away when I was out of pills. I also used the stuff to end a minor oxycodone addiction, I stopped the oxy cold turkey and used the codeine about a week then stopped it cold turkey without any real problems. The promethazine-codeine combo is also one of the best things I've ev found for a stimulant comedown. I enjoy it but not enough to go buy it at the price most people ask, usually just use what I have leftover sometimes after getting a script for a bad cough.
 
The cough syrup is technically for a viral spasmodal cough that generally happens at night when you have certain viruses . Medically its good for that.

It potentiates alcohol so its used for that recreational reason. I dont see much value in codeine tecreationally. It just makes me feel better when Im crook so dont have much reason to use it for fun

Pimp C didn't have anything in his system besides codeine/promethazine, and yeah, the preexsiting sleep apnea coupled woth the respiratory depression is what apparently killed him.

Tussionex on the other hand is pretty damn good. I believe that was also referenced by UGK / Three 6 Mafia at one point ;)
 
It's a stupid fad. If you can get it OTC in any other form, go with that..

There was a time when codeine was OTC here though but only in a syrup, I did use it quite frequently back then. But only because there was no alternative aside from the strong opiates I had successfully kicked, at the time anyway. I really enjoyed using it on top of the tramadol I was scripted during that time. It wasn't an ideal addiction either (but what addiction is?), but better than an addiction to the hard stuff, that's for sure.

Anyway I digress, it's a stupid hip-hop scene thing that made a lot of dumb kids think it was cool or something to 'be sippin on lean'. When I drank that codeine syrup I'd chug it all (or the dose I wanted) in 1 go so I didn't have to deal with that foul taste more than once to get my dose in my system.
 
Definitely not the greatest drug but it has it's uses. Now hydrocodone-(whatever that antihistamine is called) syrup is pretty awesome but the bottle I was prescribed a few months back was like (idk if prices are allowed even for legally obtained items) I'll just say about 7x the price of promethazine-codeine from the same pharmacy so I'd hate to even know the street price.
