Sepsis or Meth Overdose? And Doctor-Patient Confidentiality for a Minor?

Hello all,

My apologies for this post's length, I'm just concerned.. I'll put important details in bold so you don't have to read the whole thing.

On Wednesday night, I had been up for three days on a meth binge (smoking and IV'ing) and I starting to see some disturbing things. This was my first time binging on G, and I quickly fell victim to these paranoid delusions by locking myself in the bathroom in an attempt to escape from them.

I was not thinking logically because of the delusional state I was in, and I concluded that the hallucinations were a result of coming down off the G, even though I was already wired. Being a amateur user of stimulants (far more experienced with depressants) I repeatedly smoked, which didn't help. So I decided that dosing would help, but I couldn't filter my shots because I was too afraid to leave the bathroom for a cotton swab, nor did I have sterile equipment. Despite the unsanitary conditions and lack of equipment.. I stupidly went ahead and slammed a couple of unfiltered hits.. Which greatly disappoints me, to say the least.

After a while, I realized that the drugs were only making the situation worse. I'm obviously an amateur with stimulants as I rarely used them; I'm used to slamming 8mg dillies and dark shots of smack. With downers, I always knew when to stop, but with the speed it just never occurred to me how much I was doing, and how I wasn't even using the harm reduction techniques that I always am careful to use. I wasn't thinking, too much was going on and I was too distracted and in fear of my life.

Then, suddenly I realized that I had several bruises on my arms that were slowly swelling up and raising infront of my own eyes. My cheek also began swelling up, and this is when I finally left the bathroom in a panicked state. I retrieved an ice pack, and I remember sitting down and noticing that it was getting bright out.

It was roughly 6 AM when I saw the clock, and I realized that I had been in the bathroom for a solid 4 hours, endlessly smoking and dosing. Thankfully by this point my delusions were dying down a bit, likely because of the sunlight that started filling the room. I called a friend who has training in the medicine- he said that I should go to the hospital. After arguing with him for a bit, he told me that I need to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, and he said that I could be suffering from blood poisoning (sepsis) and that if I don't get help, my life could be in danger.

I got off the phone and I took a shower, where I noticed that all across my body I had collapsed veins and that I had new, flatter veins that had formed in many places, with these scar-like appearances. Then, it frightened me when much of my body hair started to coming off as I was washing my body.. When I scrubbed my leg, hair literally came off with it. I thought I was just hallucinating but I had to unclog the drain several times, and I realized that it was actually coming off.. Most disturbingly, and excuse me for the gross details, but my junk looked abnormal; it was quite lifeless, unusually dark and shriveled. I tried stimulating bloodflow to the area by warming up the water, though it didn't help so much. After being worried with the shower I just tried relaxing and sleeping it off. When I woke up, my groin was in some pain..

Later, when urinating, not only was it difficult- but there was an unusually large amount of dark, foul smelling piss.. This had gotten better over the the last two days, although I'm experiencing pain on the left side of my mid back. I'm unsure whether this could be from my lung or from my kidney, but it's definitely painful and frustrating. And, walking around seems to put more strain on my legs, and urinating is difficult and uncomfortable.

Does all of this sound similar to blood poisoning, or more similar to a meth overdose?

I'm concerned and I need to be diagnosed, I know... But honestly I'm in fear of all the damage that I've done to my body.. I almost don't want to know, but obviously that won't help the problem.

Worst of all, I'm legally a minor (age of 17) and my parents are hesitant to take me because they believe that hospital will involve CPS (last time I was at the hospital from a heroin + hydromorphone overdose, they involved CPS because I'm not 18 yet) and they don't want me to be detained (currently on probation and they're in fear of my PO being informed and probation being violated).. They're telling me that I've got to just toughen up and give it some time and I'll get better, but I'm in a bit of pain and worried that I may have damaged my organs.

Is there anywhere I can go for diagnosis/treatment that will respect doctor-patient confidentiality and not report the incident to CPS or my PO?

And, was this a possible meth overdose? Or could it be something worse.. like blood poisoning resulting from the unsanitary conditions?

Any responses are appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read!

I wouldn't worry about your PO finding out as confidentiality will keep that discreet (only if/when you sign a waiver for your PO to be contacted by doctors which is commonplace when seeing one at court-mandated rehab will they be able to legally contact them) so don't worry about that.

As for CPS, I doubt that will be an issue as you would be 18 by the time they got around to doing anything anyway with all the paperwork involved, so that's another worry that isn't something that will be pursued.

As for everything else, idk man hallucinations can be very strong. Have you seen the hair since then, because I know you can really think you saw your hair falling out and think you needed to unclog the drain, but I've never heard of something like that happening in real life.

I would still go to the doctor though to get yourself checked out. Be safe.

It doesn't sound like blood poisoning. This was a meth overdose, alright. You should stay hydrated and try to get some food in you; reckless amounts of meth use can certainly mess with your kidneys - in fact it puts your whole body under a lot of stress. Try to get some rest, too.

You should start feeling better gradually. It is essential you get proper nutrition and drink lots of water (or better, something mildly acidic like cranberry juice) to help your body restore itself and flush the remaining meth and waste products from your body. Chances are you will feel shitty, stiff, and sore for up to a few weeks. A meth bender can really do a number to your body, like running several marathons while you're unprepared.

It would be prudent to see a doctor, especially if the back pain (likely kidney-related) continues. That, the bruising, and the unusually dark urine may be a sign that some of your muscle tissue broke down while you were whacked out of your mind on meth. (rhabdomyolysis). Or it could just be from dehydration and increased metabolism. The dark urine and back pain should resolve within a few days, but if it does not you should have your kidney function evaluated because you may have done some damage.

By the way, this is perhaps a wake-up call to take it easy with the drugs. You're not yet 18 and slamming meth? That's not a good trail to be on.
