Sentenced to death for just over 2kg Cannabis

They killed him for having weed, than went home smoked a cigar/cig and drank some booze....but that is okay........

Fuck this war on drugs
Not if they're practising Muslims they didn't.

....and yet another reason to hate muslims/Islamic states
Fuck you. I know lots of Muslims. They're perfectly nice people. People should never be held collectively responsible for the actions of others because of a shared religion.

Muslims may not drink but I see a lot of them chain smoking. Shouldn't smoking also be forbidden since nicotine binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors therefore increasing levels of several neurotransmitters including Dopamine?

^That's better. But I'd go further- fuck anyone who behaves like that. There's no need to make mention of religion, nor race, nor any other attribute that is not directly relevant. These sort of punishments for drug trafficking are commonplace all over South-East Asia, not just Malaysia, but no-one responds to articles about executions in Thailand with angry Buddhist-bashing.

A lot of Muslim nations like Egypt has a lot of hash smokers among the muslim population and also some users and growers of opium.Look at Afghanistan for one,the world's largest producer of opium and heroin, and grow under the direction mostly now of the radical muslim Taliban types who justify opium growing, etc. as it being a finance of them by non muslim users, but there are millions of muslims in Iran addicted to heroin, and also afghanistan has users and addicts and Pakistan,etc...Also in the 1940's and 50's in the United states there were people convicted and sentenced to long prison terms for possesion of a few joints, having a ounce or two resulted in some people getting life sentances in some states like Texas, although these sentances were overturned in the 60's sometime, but the people had done 20+ years in one mans case for having about 2 grams of weed..

I remember watching a documentary about Afghan opium production. In one segment, the crew interviews a farmer who has a few acres of opium to harvest yearly and so he has about 6 other men helping him. Instead of paying them money, he gives them each a sizable amount of opium at the start of each day and at the end of each day along with payment. I had a big grin on my face when I saw that and so did the workers when the crew filmed them receiving their share of opium gum after a hard day's work.

yes says the american

and?

Not to completely derail this thread, but true religiousness is nothing like its bastard offspring Abrahamic religion.

True religiousness ruins nothing. Your gripe shouldn't be with religion, it should be with the shitty people that interpret religious messages wrong.

you don't see me sawing someones head off with a dull butter knife screaming allahu akbar because the guy had some hash do you?

I choose not to let mythical sea creatures in the sky dictate my life

OK, this just screams ignorance all the way through. I'm not going to get into this argument though, but try and think about what you're actually saying next time.

By brandishing all Muslims extremists, you might as well brandish all Christians extremists too.

So by your false syllogism, we've got a billion catholics (plus millions of other Christians of different denominations) running around that share beliefs and doctrines with these cunts ...

Stop being such a fool and think before you type.

This sends a clear message. Smoke your marijuana, but don't get caught. The reality is people in India smoke marijuana. Also, this self-limits the amount of marijuana India wants it's people to consume. If you know that carrying 2 kg of weed is going to get you killed, most people won't get near that much weed. This doesn't prevent marijuana from being smoked, but it sure as hell limits the amount. And the amount of drugs being consumed in a country is a defining factor of a country, whether you like it or not. India doesn't want to have the same types of drugs being used America, nor the same levels of drug use as America. Why? Because America already does that and India is not America.

Now tobacco is a factor America and India both agree on, but as one poster said, the amount of tobacco being consumed in India is much higher than in America.

Theres a lot of muslim hate in here, figured the average bluelighter was above that shit.

I'm not really sure I agree with that. It's sort of like saying prohibition works.

If that's the case, then surely all we need to do to end the war on drugs is rigidly impose the death penalty for anyone found in possession of even the tiniest quantities of a controlled substance/scheduled drug without a prescription? You'd kill off all the addicts and no-one would ever use drugs again?

Somehow I doubt it.

My point was that, as a citizen of a country that executes children and mentally ill people, and in which the level of influence religious extremists exert is relatively high, your comments remind one of the old saying "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

who said anything about muslims

I thought it was apparent that what I typed was quite ridiculous and should be considered trolling
never ever go over to the brown side of the world because they will cut your head off because you have a few pounds of plants as they stone their women to death
It seemed obvious to me that you were referring to Muslims with that statement. I apologise if I was mistaken.

I wish we lived in a world where the expression of Islamophobic views was an obvious joke, but that is unfortunately not the case. I am glad you were kidding, but the sad truth is that many people genuinely hold such beliefs.

We are. It's called...generalization. OMG!!!!!! We can't pinpoint whose fault it is. We know that India's people have a law and that the vast majority of them allow this law to stay in power. So don't get all pissy just because people have to deal with generalizing and don't have time to write a book on why none of the 1.18 billion people of India helped this man get off via a riot, had the law in the first place, or at least got rid of it by now.
