Health Seniors4Psychedelics

Sucks doesn’t it? I just got my license renewed. I have a hearing aid restriction. Fortunately, my eye restrictions were removed because cataract surgery helped my vision.
Hell, I get tired easily driving so I get my wife to drive on return trips.
Actually I still have a valid license and could probably get renewed. It was a totally voluntary thing.

It sorta sucks, but I manage my expectations and am more than happy. I can literally walk anywhere or take public transit I need to be.

always hated driving, but I am really enjoying my e-bmx for scooting around town

had to replace brake pads after 3000 miles, but that only cost 30 bucks with labor.
only one brake - rear wheel, but so much fun

Where I live the city has e bike rentals for real cheap. There's an app that allows me to find where they are and how much charge each one has on it. They have 6 e bikes and three regular bikes as I write this that are 1 block away from me.

Or simply take enough LSD to travel by dragonfly!!

The idea of geezers tripping and driving is nightmare fuel.
I sold my car and don't drive anymore.

I don't drive anymore either. Partly because old DUIs make my insurance outrageously expensive, partly because my eyesight is failing, & partly because I just don't really need to.

My ebike gets me where I need to go. If it's raining, I wait.

when I first got a car - it was freedom.
soon, as I was driving to work and back or to somebody's cottage, I started to resent traffic, lanes, stoplights, and the position my body was forced into.
then I started worrying about the huge trucks which were going too fast to pass, too slow to follow and too scary to pass, and like that.

I still love driving in Greece - less busy on the high speed roads, but Canada not so much, USA - yuck.

When I used to live in Portland (Maine), most of the city isn't accessible via car, and the winters are absolutely insane. I would use a skateboard when there wasn't snow, or a BMX bike when there was snow, have you ever tried to repair snow damage in a BMX bike? I've had to replace the entire hub countless times due to damage from road salt.

I am a big suck - I try not to go out in the rain or snow, and I try to go to Greece in the winter.

the bike has warnings about not being waterproof - esp the electrical parts. it's pretty cheap https://www.bestbuy.com/product/swf...ating-range-20-mph-max-speed-black/J3R8WKRQVS - 799 CDN so prob 500$ US

14 more years before I'm eligible. But strongly support the psychedelic movement and advocacy.
I don't make the rules, but I'm guessing that an "old soul" would get special dispensation.
If you think you qualify, it doesn't hurt to ask.

On the other end of the spectrum, I work with 20- & 30-somethings who keep me young at heart. They often say things like You don't act old. Surely that doesn't  disqualify me?

There are a lot of old farts like myself kicking around using psychedelics and I would to see legislature passed allowing cultivation and use without penalty. This is a copy I wrote to NYS Senate

Dear Honorable Members of the New York State Senate,
On behalf of Seniors4Psychedelics, I write to express our strong support for Assembly Bill A2142. This bill establishes a comprehensive, regulated framework for the adult use of psilocybin to treat qualifying health conditions, including protocols for health screenings, licensed support service providers, and cultivator licensing—ensuring both safety and accessibility for seniors seeking relief through evidence-based psychedelic therapy
We also urge your favorable consideration of Assembly Bill A628, which legalizes adult possession and use of certain natural plant and fungus-based hallucinogens—such as psilocybin, mescaline, and DMT—removing them from Schedule I and granting necessary legal protections for responsible, therapeutic use by adults across New York State
Together, these bills represent an essential step in expanding safe, trauma-informed treatment options for older adults, reducing stigma, and fostering intergenerational healing. We respectfully request that you vote YES on A2142 and A628 to uphold New York’s leadership in compassionate, progressive public health policy.
Thank you for your leadership and dedication to the well-being of all New Yorkers.
Sincerely,

Top
