Hey guys, I haven't been on in along time but after I just beat the game Uncharted 3 for ps3 I thought of this forum. Near the end of the game you drink some laced water that makes you trip. Its a complete mindfuck fighting guys and running through the city on this psychedelic drug. This is the first time I have seen anything that looks close to a real trip since the Hotel seen in Fear and Loathing in las vegas.

I just recorded my tv for a couple minutes its pretty bad quality and you can see my reflection, doesn't come close to show the detail of it but you get the idea. Stuff starts to go real crazy later on and after you kill some guys, your character slowly comes down. The statues that were literally moving their arms, fish swimming around fountains, dies down to just simple visual distortion. Its really neat, made me think of mushrooms minus the color.

Watch in 720p

tell me what you think

Cool! Shame there aren't any other videos of it yet. Yeah it seemed sort of psilocybin-ish to me, the music REALLY helped capture it as well. About time a game designer thought to include a drug trip in an action game.

yeah you cant hear it on this video but I was having it go through surround sound. Kinda creepy hearing the quiet voices in your head moving around your room.

There is a game you can download on the internet called Amnesia, it can be trippy to watch. You wake up in a castle filled with these creatures/zombies, and don't know how you got there. Obviously the character you play is scared shitless and gets some wavy visual distortions. As the character's sanity decreases from being scared, the distortion get more intense.

Funny you should mention that.

lol @ the datura TR link in the link you posted Flickering. I can only imagine 8( ...

Remind me of Eternal Darkness for Gamecube. As your sanity goes down, weird fucked up things start happening. That was a fucking scary game...

And my vision went all wonky just after watching that video, text was waving and moving.

Man this video just makes me want to trip some balls. That's an interesting vid, I wonder how they coded that to work, because when the dimensions change it needs to interact with the dimensions around it...
Hmm that would have been hard to do.

That is really awesome.. I got a strange but happy feeling when i watched it. Its a great visual example of what we try to explain. Thanks for posting and welcome back.

It would have been cooler if you started killing monsters half way through.

About time a game designer thought to include a drug trip in an action game.

In Everquest you could drink booze and get drunk, and the screen would go wavy. But before that in Myst, you could get rye from this old guy and get drunk and the screen would go wavy.

mb ill get a better recording later, one without me in the background and higher quality. You have to fight many enemies while tripping and their all wigged out. Flaming heads and teleporting around when normally you just fight normal guys. Didnt want to spoil the whole game =P

It is a lot more likely that the visual effect was simply that: a visual effect, rather than a change in the level architecture.

that what i thought at first but after looking around awhile in the real game there is just too much going on. lots of patterns have their own individual movements as well as objects

Thats a pretty good simulation - quite realistic looking. Sadly the video cuts out just as it gets interesting... (those things coming through the wall - looked pretty cool. What are they?)

looks good. The trippy bits on Arkham asylum are pretty twisted and crazy if i recall

If anyone has payed Max Payne of Max Payne 2? Old school gamers im looking at you....awesome trip scene in those games....I recently got Alice Madness Returns for my girlfriend on ps3 and that is quite hectic and tripped out at points! haha I love games like these! Same goes with Portal!
