hello! i hurt my back in a car accident and they gave me tramadol for the pain but before they gave me that i had taken a few vicodin and percosets to help with it. i also have been taking buspar for anxiety for 3 weeks now should i be fine if i take the tramadol now or should i wait a few days before taking it? i just really dont want to end up dead and i am very paranoid thats why im asking

thanks to anyone who posts a good reply

I took a quick look through the literature and found that Buspirone is a "proconvulsant" drug, at least in anImal models; I can't speak to the validity of this statement or the studies it came from as I only read the abstract. I can, however, speak from experience when I say that Tramadol does lower the seizure threshold and can cause seizures by itself. I had a tonic-clonic seizure last summer from high doses of Tramadol. I would check with a doctor and/or pharmacist before proceeding, as Tramadol is unpredictable at best. Hope this was of some help. Stay safe.

if you are first time user of tramadol the only thing you need to worry about is breaching the 400mg daily limit. tramadol is a rather weak opioid so people tend to take more than they should, which can lead to seizures. so keep your dosages down betweem 200-400 daily for the time being and you will be fine.
