Seizures from benzo withdrawals

Howcome I never seizured when I stopped cold turkey very heavy xanax binge that lasted approx 6 months? The last month was even worse, Because I was getting 1mgx2 tablets from Psych and 2mgx2 from Doc, so to say the month I was taking way too heavy doses... I dont know if I had 1 seizure on my left leg it could have been nightmare also, but I remember waking up and having my leg seizure for like 20 seconds, wich to this day Im not sure happend or not.

I hear so much about seizuring from benzo withdrawals, but was 6 months just not enough? It was from beginning to end no less than 8mg day, mostly 16mg's I guess.

Any personal experiences here about seizuring during benzo wds?
 
I had two seizures, without any withdrawal symptoms, twice. The second one nearly cost me my life. I was using much less than you, one time for a month, the other for almost two months. I can't even be sure if I took Xanax, Valium, or Klonopin on a daily basis.

But it happened to me and I would strongly advise anyone to never, ever abruptly stop taking any benzo without a supervised tapering plan first.
 
Everybody is different, that's why. Consider yourself lucky. And just because it didn't happen THIS time does not mean it would not happen to you in the future.

Xanaxed, did I read your other posts correctly? You did a quick-detox for benzos (6 days) and then said you were fine, but then a post later that day said you did a bunch of speed and decided to take a bunch of klonopin? Obviously, I'm not trying to ride you, if you fell of the horse, you fell off, but the post times were the same, so I'm guessing you didn't have any seizure activity because you took some benzos?

Not everyone who abruptly stops taking high levels of benzos have seizures. Just be thankful you're one of the luck ones who wasn't hit by the life threatening WD symptoms. And I'm not sure what you mean by your leg seizing. Do you mean you woke up and your leg was like seized up, like the muscles tight and unable to move? Muscle cramps and spams are a common benzo WD symptom. Some studies have shown that people who use benzos for four weeks or more that between 20-100% of them will experience WD symptoms.
Scary that that high a percent of people experiance bad WD from benzos.
 
I had those muscle cramps on mild withdrawal. They aren't seizures.

Seizures make you lose your consiounsness and you forget that you even had a seizure.

i know im wrong and that you dont want one but the way you are asking almost makes me feel like you do

A seizure can help stopping benzos.
 
From 12mg of clonazepam per day to NOTHING gave me a number of grand mal (generalized) seizures, so much so I was put ON clonazepam to stop it....
<shrug> just keep taking the pills...

Oh yes, and alcohol doesn't help either.
 
I was on 500mg-800mg tramadol a day - over the RDA due to its seizure dangers above 400mg. I also stopped a very heavy klonopin habit of around 8mg a day whilst taking that amount of tramadol and experienced no seizures bar a lot of twitches which I would not call seizures - they are due to nerves firing when cold turkeying or rapidly tapering a benzo. I think your genetically prone to them or you are not. I wouldn't go testing that out though...
 
The jerks are called 'myoclonosis' and it is a form of epilepsy...
