ANYBODY WHO SUFFERS FROM SEIZURES PLEASE READ THIS AND SHED SOME KNOWLEDGE ON ME. I RECENTLY WAS DIAGNOSED WITH GRAND MAL SEIZURES. I NEED SOME WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WITH THIS PROCESS OF BEING TESTED BY A NEUROLOGIST.
To make a long story short, my brain is Fd' up. Ever since I was a little kid, I feel like I'm about to pass out when I stand up. The doctors and nurses said it's likely because I have low blood pressure. They said not to worry because alot of people get light headed. Over the years I developed motion sickness and sometimes episodes of vertigo.
When I was 5 years old (1986 ish) I was badly hit by a car and lost consciousness. I recently read the medical documentation. Because my parents were considered "poor"the hospital refused to do any major tests. They said I was fine. The scans they did didn't show anything bad. I've had probably 4 or 5 very serious concussions since then.
My coordination, speech, memory eye site is slipping more and more every day.
I've done so many drugs in the past 15 years I'm surprised I'm alive today. One specialist said that I was self medicating myself all these years.
Eventually I found myself a really good psychiatrist. After going through 5 or 6. I suffer from many mental illnesses. Not even gunna get into it. Anyways I've been on adderall for a while. Without it I will crash onto my couch and not want to do anything for days at a time. then the depression and anxiety kicks in.. and so forth...
ive had sooo many scans on my heads recently that I feel as if I get a scan done by a neurologist... it will show the same results and will be a waste of money. Last year I stood up and went to grab my jacket. BAM on the ground. I woke up all confused. I smashed over two computers, computer monitors, table, chair. I figured maybe I just passed out because of the adderall. Maybe I was dehyrdated. I know adderall can cause you to pass out/faint. I also know that adderall decreases the threshold for seizures.
I was in denial. I've seen many people have seizures in front of me. They drop on the ground, lock up, bite, shake, piss themselves. So I didn't say anything to my shrink. At about this time I was also put on a trial of Prozac. I stopped takin it after a month cuz I had uncontrolled shits. legit. Next I was put on clonazepam. It definitely helped me a lot. Or well I think it did. Until of course I started abusing them and mixing them with alprazolam. Anyways I was trying to taper myself off. I started to have these little 5-10 second episodes. where i would get a little confused. drop and hit the floor. I'd only black out for a second or two.
That's when I started to get worried. Still didn't say anything cuz I know what my doctor would say. So he ended up trying a few more SSRI. They made me physically sick. I refused to take them. Eventually he said no more benzos and he wanted to try SNRI. I cant think of the name of it off the top of my head. Eventually I said fine. what the hell. He gave me a 20 day trial. I felt alive and never felt better. This was after 2 weeks. Big surprise cuz it normally takes 4 weeks to feel anything. On the 20th day, the last day of the trial, I stood up and BAM. I felt like I was in dreamland. Another dimension. I snapped out of it in severe pain. I was hunched over a table snapped in half. I reached for my mouth. So much blood I really thought I was gunna pass out. I was missing half my lip. Eventually I looked at the end table. I must have clinched onto the wood end and bit right thru it.
At that point I said FUCK. someone told me that adderall and ssri/snri arent supposed to be mixed. I mentioned that to my dr and he pushed it off. he said there isnt enough documentation to prove that. I'm freaking out cuz I know they take your license. Next appointment I told my DR about my seizure. He said well you know what that means. No more adderall cuz it shrinks the threshold level for seizures. he then gave in and wrote me one more script. but he said he can no longer treat me and I need to go to a Neurologist.
My doctor told me this and I believe it. I suffer from bad concussions. The more you get the more likely your motor skills and memory will slip. It can also cause dementia. He then said couple that in with seizures and it could be deadly. He told me his theory on seizures is this...... Once you suffer one major one, untiil you get treatment (medication), it's like rot on a car, like cancer... it keeps spreading. I read online that people who suffer from seizures sometimes will have a blank look on their face, appear to be out of it, and in reality they are suffering a seizure.
It's been about a month since then. I packed my bags and moved out of state. For various reasons. But I still get "aura" and sometimes I still do drop. For this reason I'm scared to drive or go out. It's just making my social anxiety a thousand times worse.
So once I get myself health insurance I am going to make an appointment with a neurologist. Without a doubt I will be given an EEG test.
I read that clonazepam is sometimes given for seizures. Anybody with a history of seizures have a script for adderall?
I'm likely going to seek treatment from a psychiatrist as well for my anxiety and adhd if the neurologist doesnt help with that......
THANKS... ANY FEEDBACK AND WORDS OF ADVICE WILL BE GREAT
