What's up guys... I'm 21 years old and diagnosed w/ generalized anxiety disorder and have panic attacks daily. My insurance (Geisinger Family Plan) covers my doctor visits and prescriptions (Sometimes I pay like $3). Yesterday I had a panic attack right in front of my current doctor and all he said was your sure it's not depression? Your sure it's not depression? Twice.. Then referred me to a psychiatrist and upped my dose of Prozac from 10 to 20 per day and told me he'll see me in a month. I don't feel this dr is for me nor am I getting anywhere with him. My question is, Can I see other family doctors in my area although I already have my current family doc? I need something asap bc of my attacks. And is it OK if I get prescribed (Say a Benzo) from the different family doc? Also, can the other doc see my current medical records? Thanks so much guys.. ? Seriously helps a lot. Lastly, should I tell the different doc that I have another Family doctor who prescribed me Prozac? Once again thank you Bluelighters.

I think if you are not being referred to the other doctor you will probably have to swap to the new one and have them become your primary care doctor which isn't that big of a deal, as long as there willing to take you on as a patient you just have to call your insurance provider to let them know of the change. But if plan on keeping the current doctor as your Primary Care Doctor and do not tell him you are going to see the other he might consider it doctor shopping and drop you as a patient
