I have general anxiety and take a benzo so I am already hyped up. I was started on Hydrocodone at a low dose. It helps with the pain better than Tylenol or Motrin (I am a past oxycodone abuser) but i have real pain and MRI scans to back it up.
I am going for a medication adjustment for the pain medication. The Vicodin controls the pain in the morning and early evening but it is intense at night because I don't get enough pain meds to take 3 times a day. How should I talk about the doctor about this? HELP IM SO NERVOUS!!!!!! Do i just go in and say what i said above? WIll they say too bad thats all youre getting, or what. This is not my regular doctor so I'm not sure whats going to happen. Any help appreciated.

Thank you

PS I AM NOT TRYING TO SCAM THE DOCTOR I HAVE LEGIT PAIN AND MRIS TO PROVE IT!!!

be honest with the dr they generally know when your bullshittiting them they see 20 of you a day if he doesn't help go to a strictly pain mgmt. dr

Hydrocodone is short acting and shouldn't be prescribed for chronic pain, only short term pain management as you'll need to increase your dose the longer you take it. I've been there, had 2 spinal surgeries and stenosis into my actual spinal cord column.

Yes, ask your doctor for something else or longer acting. If you have anxiety though you might not want to develop a high tolerance to opiates. IME. :)

Extended release morphine at a proper dose should work for that kind of pain imo.
It depends on a lot of factors, such as dosing, intervals, long versus short acting.
I´d rather not use short acting medication for pain.
It could be a combination of a lighter painkiller for breakthrough pain and a long lasting one.
Of course the doses should really be individualized according to your response.
