Search returns WAY too broad

I think I started using the search way back when before I was a member and actually got good results. But when I search now it looks as if the search is trying to match everything in the world (including just a partial on my search...For instance searched Propofol and got returns that had nothing that I wanted but a word that had prop in it).
I have tried to use it over and over. But the search returns in each instance seem unhelpful. Am I doing something wrong here?

which search?

the bluelight/enhanced box at the top of every page? or the one in the search option?

make sure you select to search posts rather than everything on the site.
 
search results are a simple function of search terms - what terms are you using?

i did a bl search for "propofol" in posts only and an unscientific, random check of the 103 results returned no results which did not contain the search term (i.e. every result contained the search term).

Well, I was doing a simple search from the box in the middle of the page and not clicking the enhanced link. Perhaps I am just not doing what I should.

^ Yea man, you have to use the one in the top right corner, and click advanced on that.
