Waiting for Jesus under a full moon streetlight
Bums, hookers, runaways, a stray dog and crack addict.
Our fellow players for the night.
Our wino preacher ,Noah beard and Lot lies, taking curbside confessions

This is our silent obsession.
A bible, a bottle, and an empty needle, All we need to start a religion
Standing in ranks, like pews lined up for the sermon
sadness, desire, and failure all in order.

This is our wasteland.
A city, tall and strong.
Concrete, steel, glass…… all that
Back yards, empty lots, chain link fences
Oceans of slums, and desserts of green lawns
Our lusting Moses leads us.

These are our martyrs
The midnight children, with angry faces
Their bitter poetry a haiku of
violence
Sex
Instinct
Woe to those who cross their path

These are our dreams
Broken, used, wasted
Needless

This is me
Standing under a full moon, shrouded by a scorpion cloud
On the burnt out hollow of a steeple roof
A shot glass of faith
A pocket full of regrets
Empty can of gas
And a fistful of matches
This is me trying to place a collect call to god

Some of the most powerful and eloquent words I've read in the whole time I've been reading this forum.

Nice fucking work indeed. :)

I had to read this a couple of times to grasp what it is I like so much about it and I think I've figured it out...it's incredibly confident. I don't mean it evokes a feeling of confidence, but you seem to have complete faith in your ability to write, and it's very powerful.

Nice one. :)

This piece is brilliant Frosty da snowman, I particularly like the closing and the section below.

You paint the picture of despair & desolation beautifully.

Good stuff!!

=D

As I read this the first thought that came to mind was Ginsberg. You write exactly in his vein and that is high praise indeed. My signature is the first line to my favourite Ginsberg piece...
