Alot of the discussions on this board revolve being able to site science papers to back up arguments. Unfortunately because alot of journals restrict access to their papers, this can make reading papers that someone else has sited kinda awkward.

I don't have online access to papers any more, but would it be possible for anyone to post papers on here (or anywhere else)?

Try a local university library. Often times they will have a hardcopy of just about anything someone reading this board would be interested in. Also the computers at universitys are many times already "logged" in to many journals. For instance, I can search J. Med. Chem. at any computer at a local universtity.

Go to the library look up citations you find here, and more importantly find new citations to share with the rest of us. :)

Many journals are moving to free access for the general public (as they should). I believe that any government funded study should have to be posted in full on the web.

To the OP: college libraries are the best way to obtain access to scientific journals.

I think that scientific papers have got harder for the general public to get over recent years. it used to be traditional for the authors of a paper to publish it in scientific journals and simultaneously on the departments web pages, that way poor people without the hugely expensive subscriptions to the journals could access it. However various journals who shall remain nameless got upset about this practice and it has mostly died out.
now you need academic, or corporate access.
I try not to cite anything that isn't available online,
information is power,

This is why a 'wish list' of sorts would be good. I know pubmed has some stuff, but most aren't free and paying $30 just to look at a paper is prohibitive.

So.....would anyone be willing to post pdf files on here? Or would that be asking for trouble?

if you tell me the journal and article i'd be more than happy to have a look and would post it somewhere. Would bl want us taking up megs with uploaded .pdf's though?

Someone should get an ftp space or something for ADD.

I'll do my best for getting articles but my uni doesn't have the best access.

just use megaupload or yousendit, that works well enough.

Find the author of the article. E-mail requesting a personal copy. Bam. Done.

would need a mystic a seance or a oija board to do that with a lot of the articles have wanted recently.

So should we have a sticky thread on here for papers? Either that or a prominent link for posting?
I was thinking that a few good reviews would be a start, as most threads require a decent amount of background knowledge.
For starters here's a review on serotonin:

Neuropharmacology 38 (1999) 1083-1152 Barnes & Sharp 'A review of central 5-HT receptor and their function'

It's pretty good as an introduction to serotonergic function. I've got a hard copy of it, but can't get the pdf.

Likewise having reviews on things suchs as ligand structure, receptor binding sites, glutamate, dopamine, GABA and opioid receptor function, as well as on hippocampal, amygdaloid, nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortical neurobiology.

I know this is ambitious, but I think it would be good as a resource and to improve the understanding of people posting messages on here.

Yes, I have some articles. If other people are also inclined to 'chip in' then I would be happy to contribute. Maybe we can have a joint filesharing account or something so that it doesnt go inactive due to prolonged inactivity?

OK......so basically we need a sticky thread and either have posts here (if there's the filespace) or a link to a file posting site. Is that right?

A lot of the main MDMA and Psychedelic papers are hosted at the MAPS bibliography.

That's a REALLY good link!! I had a look at it and there are definately papers on there which you can't get directly from journals.

I remember looking on MAPS a while ago, basically if you're looking for info on drug effect, you'll find it here!

It seems to be purely pharmacology (i.e most of the papers are specifically on what compounds do, but without saying too much about why, not that that's a criticism).

It's certainly worth a look for anyone with a scientific E fetish!!!!

We still need a mod to post a sticky link though

This is a cannabinoid review

This is that monster 5HT review I keep referring to

https://rikki.fi/tajkor/bl/Dopamine and drug addiction - the nucleus accumbens shell connection.pdf

and this is a review on the nucleus accumbens and drug addiction.

I think we've got the ball rolling!!! =D
