On October 10th my pain management doctor wrote my normal script for my 10/325 hydrocodone. I take 9 a day an he normal writes my script for 2 weeks. This time he wrote my script for a month but set my next appt for 2 week bc I got genetic testing done to see if my body properly metabolizing my medication. I came back on October 24th turns out my body does not properly metabolize hydrocodone and I need much more of of it than normal to achieve pain relief. Since 10/325 is the strongest they make and u can't safely take more than 9 a day I have to switch to a medicine that does not require the enzyme that doesn't function right in my body. My options are morphine, oxymorphone and hydromorphone. He told me to think about it and come back in a couple weeks. I had enough of my script left ( since he wrote me for a month and it had been 2 weeks) to get me till November 9th. My appt is on November 13th. But he wrote me another month script anyways. I couldn't even fill it until yesterday (nov 7th) my question is as follows: since hydrocodone is schedule II now if I get a script for morphine on nov 13th will I be able to fill it since I just filledy hydrocodone script on the 7th? Or does it not matter since it is 2 different meds?

I am not versed in CII but I do know my g/f could get her xanax and valium filled because they are two different drugs. I wouldnt be overly concerned if you are changing meds if you were to do it every month or try to do it over and over maybe. I look at it like this, say a patient is responding poorly to one med, so the doctor writes another script for a different one, its unfair to force that person to take the one they are responding poorly to.

I think you will be fine maybe someone with more information can chime in.

Fill the script for morphine whenever your Doctor told you you could fill it by.

You have no need to concern yourself with legality, just base your decisions off what Doc is telling you. So far as acquiring your prescription is concerned.

Morphine may pose more of a challenge than hydrocodone did if it did at all against the risk of taking more than prescribed. Best wishes to you and your new script of 'civil war angel'.

We'll I have never taken more than prescribed even before we knew hydrocodone didn't work for me and I was only prescribed 6 5/325 a day which you can imagine wasn't easy seeing that 9 10/325 a day doesn't do the trick. But I am we'll aware of all the abuse and the strict guidelines that come with taking these medications. I know that doctors are often skeptical about prescribing them so no matter how bad it got I've never taken extra I've never taken anything I'm not supposed to (my father-in-law is prescribed percocet and oxycontin for his back problems he knows im in pain and would gve some too me if I asked) I've passed every drug test. I'm very serious about this. I am someone who truly is in pain. I have tried just about everything before trying the narcotics. I am not going to ruin my only source of pain relief by doing somthing stupid. I'm just concerned because the Walgreens where I live is rediculous they treat me like an addict everytime and I've tried going to a different pharmacy but all the other pharmacys are smaller like country mart or little mom and pop shop deals that can only order so many controled substances. So nobody can take on a script of 270 a month. Also I'm pretty sure morphine is one of the drugs that they will not fill more than 120 tablets and I would have 180 so I would have to do 2 week scripts again. And my doctor is over an hour drive which isn't cheap on gas and also I've read that it's a red flag. I read leaked information on a "secret checklist" that Walgreens uses. Another red flag is a new medication but like you said it have to switch I have papers proving hydrocodone doesn't work. But another possible problem is that I am only 19 years old. Everytime I fill my script they just act suspicious of me and always give me problems.

You should be fine to fill scripts for those other drugs, with no problem. I'd try to find a different pharmacy aside from walgreens though, they really are assholes.

An issue that you are going to face is that it is often very difficult to find a pharmacy that stocks sufficient amounts of instant release formulations of hydromorphone, oxymorphone or morphine. So call around...some will tell you if they have those medications in stock, many will not, but it is definitely worth doing. If necessary, try to find a pharmacy that will ORDER those medications for you, in a sufficient quantity.

Yeah, Walgreens is notorious for treating people like junkies and criminals. They made me feel like Walter White when I bought a box of Sudafed there... if you need diabetic syringes, forget it. Someplace independently owned and run, where you can develop a rapport with the pharmacy staff, would obviously be ideal, but I would even consider Kroger or Walmart if you need a large pharmacy. I am currently boycotting Walgreens and CVS for their inhuman behavior. I hate being treated like I'm trying to get a fix when I pick up a prescription for meds that I legitimately need and have no intention of abusing. If I'm looking for a fix I'll go see a dope dealer, and then if I'm hankerin' to be treated like a criminal I'll go wave my dope at a cop.

Exactly. Everybody sees my script and says there's no way a 19 year old needs this much/strong pain pills. But they didn't see me walk into the er one night with a broken c-1 vertabrae fractured c-2,c-3 hairline fractured c-7 (t-1) 7 skull fractures throwing up over everything in sight with spinal fluid coming out my ears. They didn't see me lay in a fog in the ICU for 3 days with a tube down my throatso I don't choke to death on my own vomit or paralyze myself trying not to. They didn't see me lay in bed with a neck brace for 4 months or feel the humiliation of having their mom bathe them. They didn't see me when I was 12 years old going to school with a freaking neck brace on man you can't imagine how middle schoolers act towards a kid In a neck brace. Everyone either staring or making fun of me. I was lucky enough to have several decent friends or else who knows I woulda prolly offed myself. No they saw none of they all they see is a 19 year old kid with a bunch of pain pills. The prescription doesn't tell them any of that. they have no idea that I'm a walking miricle. The doctor told me if my spine would have moved a millimeter either way I would be paralyzed from the neck down. Yes from the neck down. Even when I wake up in agonizing pain I thank god I can move I thank god I can even feel it for that matter. I'm not asking for special treatment I'm not asking to fill my pain pills early all I'm asking is to be treated with respect and to recieve my medicine so I can continue this miricle and make somthing of myself. I have a 4 month old little girl. She is my whole world. And if any of you have had kids you know that babies wake up in the middle of the night bc they're wet or they're hungry and I will not let my perfect completely innocet little angel go hungry or lay in her own urine just bc some lady at Walgreens thinks she knows whether or not I need this much pain medicine. Sorry I got way off topic that's probly against the rules I apologize bluelight but I feel very strongly about This. Thank you all for your answers incase this gets closed for this. Anyone have any suggestions? My options are walgreens, pharmax, country mart, Walmart and also a few little mom and pop shops. As far as requesting that they order it for me will just about anywhere do that? Any experience there? I have just stuck with Walgreens solely bc there has been a few times when I will run out on like a Sunday and Walgreens is the only one that is open 24/7. Should I maybe talk to my doctor about this and carefully plan my appts/ scripts to where I will run out during the week? Again thank you all for your time and responses I have been struggling with this for some time now. It is very much appreciated.

Hydrocodone does not have to be metabolized to give pain relief, only codeine and tramadol. Also taking nine of those a day is getting close to the recommended maximum of amount of APAP. Chronic use of that at high doses can cause liver damage. If you aren't getting adequate pain relief from those I would recommend Roxicodone or OP 20/40/80 mg - no APAP, the latter is a controlled release.

What didd u chose ? Ida went with the morphones.. Morphines garbage the others are amazing intranasal

I haven't chosen yet. That's what I asked for was oxycodone/roxi/ oxycontin he said it's the same enzyme. He won't give it to me. I'm going to discuss it more with him. As far as the metoblizing thing goes it's difficult to explain. No it doesn't have to be metabolized for pain relief but the CYP2D6 enzyme in my body is mutated resulting in decrecresed conversion to the more active metabolite hydromorphone. Meaning it still gives relief it just takes much more of it to give me relief than it would a normal person. And since I have been on it for a while my tolerance is higher adding to the problem. If there was a higher stregth of hydrocodone or if the APAP wasn't a problem we could go with that. I have been concered with the APAP from the beginning an that's another reason I need to switch. I was pretty much set on the oxymorphone but my insurance does not over an immediate release version of oxymorphone. And I know they are better intranasal but I don't want to have a medicine that I have to snort for it to work. I have snorted things in the past but like I said I do not want to abuse it. Snorting makes it not last as long which means I have to take more a day which means I run out early. I'm not looking for a high yes it would be nice to be able to do that everynow and then and melt into the couch. But that's not what I'm looking for I need somthing I can take throughout the day acheive pain relief and still function with my daily routine.
