Scattered Crosses (Collaboration)

This is collabortation with Altered_Soul9.

Awakened, the sun is trying to chase us
Honoring the protruding light I run
The streets are begging for attention
So I fancy the sidewalk just to spite them
They leer with judgmental eyes
But I, I know better than to give in
As I'm walking the streets begin to flood
Everyone I see rises as it pours in

But I can't keep my feet above the water
Slowly the blood seeps up my legs
And over my skinless ankles
Towards my weakened sinewy knees
The cries of pain engulf my mind
And I indulge them with my pity
Their bloody tears flow from their eyes to my cheek
Leaving my bones moistened with guilt
Sharp pains coerce through my fragmented body
Stopping at the fire-frayed edges
Knees break, ankles crush under the weight of guilt
Bringing me closer to my faults and judgments
The light comes to blind us all
Thank god he didn't bless me with eyes

With tattered elbows he drags his deteriorated body
He opens his mouth searching for a hymnal cry
But blood-soaked confessions dry on his tongue
Searching for a celestial body to grasp onto
He notices the scattered crosses around him
They advance towards him and brand their names to remember
Augmented structures rupture through the raped earth
Devouring the crosses in his heated fury
They crack open to reveal the underworld's half-minions
Their vile sight soon turns to a favored appearance
They trot over the land branding all that remains to remember

Wow. I can sense a psychological sense of betrayal in this work. Wonderfully done. Great use of symbolism.

words

You put into words something I think we have all come across at some point in those odd early morning hours. Very well done!
