scary shit salvia

Many people I have smoked salvia with have temporarily appeared unresponsive, or have spontaneously committed an absurd act. Once a roommate of mine immediately ran down to the basement of our house and hid behind the washer/dryer.

I think the mutual experiences discussed in this thread are interesting. The first time I did salvia it was a complete transportation to a parallel perception. The subsequent times, I experienced that "wooden" feeling of becoming an inanimate object, and a fleeting, but thorough, loss of ego. I remember feeling like I had become a chair and that myself and my surroundings were all made of the same rubbery substance with a texture of rhythmic folds and wrinkles.

I also remember feeling an intense rhythm of convulsions, like a pulse that cut into me. This was an unmistakable physical sensation, like I was being attacked.

It is ridiculous that salvia is sold as a sleazy "legal high" in head shops, when it has the potential to bring about such an inverse of reality.
You think headshops care? ;p;
If it's legal they just wanna sell it, tbh they probably don't even know what Salvia is.
I went to a headshop a couple weeks ago and was looking for a bong, so I ask "You ever smoke out of one of these?", just a simple ordinary question. (I was trying to find out more about the bong etc).
The guy got all confused and taken aback, almost as if i'd just asked him if he wants to shoot up with me or something. "uh, noo... we don't smoke that sort of stuff here, this is used for tobacco (pointing at a bong)".
Dunno if he thought I was a cop or something, but it was a little awkward, considering he's got chemicals and possibly toxic shit on display and gets all defensive about a bong.

Anyway about the Salvia.. not had one negative experience with it yet, but I haven't smoked much to this point and only 10x.
Guess if you have really frightening trips then it's best not to do it again as it's reverse tolerant.

I was screaming "WHAT THE FUCK" the entire time :p

haha on my first time, naive years ago. i did the same thing, justwhatthefuck justwhatthefuck justwhatthefuck justwhatthefuck , as i ran from my house into the woods. (end trip)

everybody get extreme alterations to perception which too most people is frightening even to very expirienced psychonauts cause salvia along with itdmt potence is accompanied with some dysphoric effects so its gonna be predominately bad you need alotof expirience and knowing of the substance in order to sstay lucid and not freak out

heh, yeah..... that's salvia. The second time I tried it, it tried to turn me into a chair :sus: obviously I wasn't really down with that.. the first time, it tried to turn me into a dock and I sat wriggling on the ground trying to keep a wooden pole from tearing into me...... I was screaming "WHAT THE FUCK" the entire time :p

LOL Back in the early 2000's when they sold salvia extract at smart shops in Amsterdam NL, the little instruction guide that came with the drug said it "could make you feel like an inanimate object, such as a chair." That line always made me chuckle, but I guess it was true!

It's REALLY interesting how people seem to share the same reoccurring themes with this drug... especially due to the completely random and seemingly uncontrollable effects!

Another common theme that seems to be shared is the feeling of being at a circus, every time I tried it I would seem to be outside of a GIANT carnival tent but could never get inside. Other times it was a dock, seemingly a portal to another alien world.. I also distinctly remember that "rubbery" feeling, lower doses would make everything around me look almost fake.

I'd like to try it again, but titrate up very carefully and use it in a MUCH better setting

and now i read that salvia effects are almost predominetly unpleasant

I've noticed that the reports of unpleasant trips are usually from those who don't respect the idea of titrating the dose and just jump in with large hits. If you don't respect something so powerful, it's going to kick your ass.

I've always been fascinated by the near-identical experiences of so many people who use Salvia and DMT (in particular).

My first Salvia trip had me hearing carnival music. I have more on the way to me so I'll be experimenting more with it. Unfortunately I live in one of the few countries where it is actually illegal :(

i dont know, its pretty fucking exciting drug to me. i used salvinorin a, too, a lot of it. sure it isnt very euphoric, but if u cant enjoy it for what it is, best dont take it at all.

I second that, many hallucinogenics are the same way, some people like a trip to the dark side once and a while, others call it "bad", it's only as bad as you let it get! it's all up to your mind and whether or not you have developed ways to control your psyche.

some people get scared watching a Steven King movie, others seems to like it, if you are able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality it helps, not everyone is able some see what is in their mind and go running from it, sometimes out a 5 story window.....

when really stoned (like most salvia trips) you cannot run away from objects arising in the mind.
running towards and running away are two sides of the same mushroom
all they do is Bring it on.

instead of avoid or approach - like 3 d world.
in mind all you can do is approach or watch from where you are.

by approach I mean more - like bring it on.
by watch I mean add nothing - bare awareness.
seeing without reacting.

there is no equivalent to avoiding. wrapping suppressing etc. they do not work.

I attribute the shared themes reported by salvia experiencers as stemming from salvinorin A's effects on the vestibular sense (often spoken of in terms of "gravity effects"). Consider how often the term "conveyor belt" comes up. I've referred to these effects in my own reports as an impression that I'm a tooth of a circular saw or riding on a Ferris Wheel (in keeping with the circus or carnival theme).

There is something comforting in the commonality of the experiences it produces, and the fact that it was printed officially in a "medication guide" of sorts is even further satisfying (inanimate ego-loss). Perhaps it makes us feel like we have some semblance of control over something so mysterious and chaotic.

I am also aware of the circus-like feeling. Using salvia is like one big giggle, but not in a euphoric way. It completely transcends being "high." Sometimes I feel like LSD and psilocybin just make me feel high, like cannabis, but with an added dimension. There is something sinister about salvia. It is indeed a dark comedy.

Nice, I can appreciate this.

I think that Salvia is absolutely one of the most fascinating drugs around, precisely because of it's potential to be "uncooperative." If taking LSD is like riding a horse, taking Salvia is like taming a lion.

Salvia's only worth it for me if I mix it with weed. The come up is harsh and I hate it, no matter what the dosing level. It's the most mashy, chaotic high I've ever experienced. The visuals never make sense and that intense pulling that travels up the back of my skull and to my forehead is really disturbing. That said, if I mix it with weed, there are really pleasant and interesting visuals in the aftermath if I keep my eyes closed and lay in a dark room.

My best friend used that combo about 3-4 times a week for over a year to do some important inner work, so I respect that this can be a medicine for some. It's not for me though... I find it to be a really low quality high.

yes there is a common theme, specifically with salvia and the nature of the trips at some extent
i always get the same feeling now with salvia, my perspective basically shifts flat, a 2 dimensional ripping and tearing

where as in the beginning i had the same feeling but was still learning the trip so it had a variety and unknown factors

i consider it a very 'sacred' substance and find it difficult to abuse beyond the initial exploring, unless it calls me,
versus other trips :/

Hardly anyone mentions the laughing. I've laughed on Salvia like on no other drug (well my first few times acid and mushrooms had me laugh a lot as well) and found that aspect very pleasurable. I was just laughing at the sheer insanity of the experience I guess. Other times I was just repeating the words "what the fuck" for minutes (well, I never really managed to form those words during the experience, but I sure meant to do it).

I would really like to see a substance that can produce this state more reliably than Salvia with greater control over dosage and a longer duration than salvia.

To increase the duration without using sublingually you could try boiling leaves in propylene glycol, filtering, and plugging.

Will it still be a comparably intense experience? I've had a gram of salvinorin A before, but just like the plant matter smoking (!) that stuff was pretty much hit or miss for me. I wish I had been into plugging already back then, but it took opiates and mdma to convince me of that route's awesomeness.

I just found a very strange patent for a product which is apparently Salvinorin A enhanced chewing gum.

http://www.faqs.org/patents/app/20120288450

I am massively interested in somehow re-replicating a similar product with some of the 100x that I have, and I was wondering if any of you guys would have any ideas on how to go about this? I am thinking of complexing with hpbcd, and then somehow suspending the product within pre made chewies. I wouldn't have a clue how to make my own chewies, so I was going to attempt to make a chewie solution out of deli bought ones.

Will it still be a comparably intense experience? ...

Id say that it would be comparably intense to the buccal method, depending on dosage of course.
