to the OP you will be ok. I was scared of the exact same reasons you were, and i guarantee i had more paranoia and worries about having a bad trip than you did.
i only did 1 hit, and the experience actually isn't very intense. 1 hit of acid is pretty mild (my acid was not garbage tho, and i got some pretty good visuals, but don't expect elephants to fly through the room).
make sure you set up a long playlist of music before hand, and don't always pick music you normally listen to. i highly recommend some pink floyd (dark side of the moon, echoes, and shine on your crazy diamonds), also check out some john frusciante, and other types of feel good music.
its also good to pick music that focuses more on the music than with lots of lyrics. pink floyd is good for this since there's a lot of just beautiful musical parts throughout their albums. acid truly opened my eyes to the wonders of pink floyd, who i never really gave a shot before.
i also recommend tripping during the day. when i tripped, i got up early (around 7 am) and took my dose. its nice tripping in FL on a good sunny day with some clouds in the sky. the clouds looked so cool on acid, and i cant explain the way the edges of them would dance and sway.
i also tripped by myself, and if i can trip by myself on acid then i'm sure a lot of other people who didnt think they were capable are more than likely capable of doing it too. i also made sure to turn off the house phone in case my parents decided to call the house.
the pool man tripped me out a little tho. i was sitting on the couch listening to music by the window and i looked over and he just sort of appeared right next to me. i got kinda scared at first but was able to calm myself down.
i also did DMT during the peak, which was VERY intense, and when i was coming off the DMT trip i didn't know if i was going to be tripping that hard for the next 6 hours so that kind of scared me a lil, and i kind of would have liked a friend to be there for that. the DMT trip was amazing tho, one of the most intense ones ive ever had. i did it looking out to the pond behind my house by the pool, and the weather was just perfect. i can't even explain what i saw.
one thing that did sort of prepare me for lsd was doing DMT. ive done DMT prob over 20 times when i first tried LSD, and LSD is nothing compared to DMT, so if you can handle DMT you can definitely handle LSD.
good luck man, and let us know how the experience goes.
oh, and i did experience some slight anxiety during the comedown, but 1mg of xanax did me nicely with some weed well after the trip wore off.
