i am looking into buying a scale. can anyone here recommend a scale that they have found to be reliable/sturdy/ accurate etc. , and where it can be purchased. i'm probably going to be looking at mechanical scales, because i don't want to spend a fortune (preferably under $100). thanks in advance for any info...
 
Go to balances.com and order a Tanita 1479v for $69.95. Weighs up to 120 grmas with .1 gr accuracy. Mine has lasted almost 10 years with heavy use and many bumps and bruises with no loss of accuracy.
 
Pay for quality, trust me, with scales you can buy a cheap shit one several times or buy a good one for life...

http://www.labx.com - you can always find awesome deals here (it's a lab supply auction site) .. recently there was a sale on digital Ohaus scales (read out to .01g) - 15 of them for $300 .. you could sell those for $150-$200 each to yer dope head friends) well, you could if you had bought them, the auction ended at $320
Of course there are always hot finds on eBay and Yahoo Auctions - people are always reporting on finding scales accurate to 2mg (.002g) for like $100 or so...
I guess it depends on how far down you want to measure in weight - if you're using it for pot and only need to measure in grams you can go to yer local office supply store and get a perfet scale (for postage) and it will cost around $20 .. if you're happy with cheap plastic toys your local head shop might have something for a few bucks... or you can just gank one from your school (if you go to Middle school, High school, or College the sience labs should have tripple-beam-balances that are VERY ACCURATE... if you don't have access or are to afraid to do it you can pay a student like $20 to gank one for you... NOTE: I don't support ripping off schools, especially public schools as most are already lacking in supplies, teachers are underpaid and classes are to big - give 'em a break and steal from your overpriced college!
 
Very true. Cop one from a university or something. When i was taking lab chemistry, all of the labs were always open during the day, even when not in use. It's an easy target.
 
If your just looking for a smaller more compact sized scale I suggest the ProScale line of scales. They are reasonably priced & I have never encountered a problem with one.Check out the link at the end, they have some goodprices...
